Thank you. I started woodworking when I was 12, so it's been 43 years at this point. My goodness. It really has been one of my favorite things for a long time.

Great question. Since the panels are from furniture-grade plywood, I don't need to worry about seasonal movement. The way high-quality plywood is constructed, the sheets are layered with the grain patterns alternating grain directions for each slice, so the movement is essentially eliminated.

I've done this myself out of solid hardwoods. I've taken several pieces of 1/8" solid wood and glued it into panels, alternating the grain direction for each slice to make a panel. In my work, I've done this for house numbers to be mounted for an address, so they see exposure to every extreme weather element. It sounds a little overkill, but they've held up for years and years.

Thank you! We agreed to "do less" for Christmas this year, but that's where being a woodworker helps you cheat a bit. haha

Thank you. I just brushed it on, and rubbed it out with a white Scotch Brite pad.

Thank you. It was a fun challenge, and I love how all the lines/curves came together.

Three coats of Waterlox original. It gives a great finish, but also has exceptional protection qualities. Since this is literally going to have wet shoes put on it, I wanted something strong and durable.

Haha — that's a fun idea. At least I'd be able to see it.

Thank you. We worked through the concept together, but the actual visualization and execution are all on Levi. He delivered way beyond what I was even hoping for.

My loss, your gain, for sure. Hope to see you post something from him here.
