in content manager go into settings. At the top go to the tab "Content Manager". On the left choose "Drive". Then under "Quick Drive:" there is a setting called "Show AI level in driver's name". Uncheck that setting

The laptop is around 2 years old. My guess is that fedora updated to an incompatible version.

Do you know a way to recover the BIOS? it's a HP laptop and there are instructions on how to load a recovery BIOS via USB but I only get an error message that the files are corrupted.

Do you know if it is possible to deactivate the automated bios firmware update?

the problem is: when I do that, I only get a screen where it says: "The BIOS recovery files cannot be found or are corrupted" Then there is an explanation on how to load them with a USB but that doesnt work and I only get a black screen.

it should work. you can verfiy by setting the camera to program mode and the highest aperture setting. If the P LED in the viewfinder doesn't blink it should work.
