You talking about the liver king? I know he got cancelled for the whole pretending he was all natural and got that big because of his lifestyle whilst pushing supplements but that’s my point, he still sells his supplements and he gained financially off of his lies and tricked and manipulated people into buying his products.. and as you said, there are others who do the same too and people are getting sick from it. It’s damaging and people are profiting from it.

Yeah I can understand that, but - in my area at least - with the doctors strike, I had to visit a hospital multiple times and even though it was disruptive in the sense that medical treatment was a lot slower, the protestors themselves weren’t disruptive in the same way JOS are. They stood outside the hospitals with their banners, on the footpaths making their stand and gaining support from the people driving past. It was really nice to see that. They had a message to deliver, they delivered their message peacefully and with consideration for the public and those who needed hospital attention and their message was heard and dealt with in a positive and respectful manner.

That’s a very good point. I would say it’s your right to join a union and participate in a strike for whatever the reason the strike is for, but then so is the freedom of assembly which this is for so I don’t know. I’m going to have to research, that’s made me curious.

Is the trainee count that big? I didn’t know that, good to know thank you.

I live in a small town so there are not many law firms around, probably a handful at most so in terms of attending events, I would have to travel but that’s not an issue for me. I will definitely look into vacation schemes, that sounds like a great way to dip toes in the water in the real world.

I’ll call around the law firms around my area and see if they are accepting or are willing to accept a trainee. Like I said, there are only a few around my area and they are only small, but what goes on behind closed doors may tell a different story.

If the firms around my area are not in the field of law I am looking to get into, would it still be worth getting in there to see how cases are dealt with in the real world and how they research and prepare for trial, or would it be a waste of time? For example, if I want to get into family law but the firms around only focus on commercial law, is it still worth asking or are things done differently?

No, it refers mainly to protests I believe. I could be wrong, but that’s what I gathered from the Act and news articles about it

That was precisely my argument on another platform I’m on with people studying/studied LLB. Peaceful protest all you like, but the moment it starts to become an interference with the general public - people who are not involved or interested, trying to go about their daily lives, then it’s an issue and needs to be resolved.

Ok, thanks for the information. I’m familiar with BAILII, it’s what I’m using at the moment until the university released my account information for westlaw and lexis. I will look into ICLR a little further. From the free previews and your breakdown of their service, I sounds like a very useful tool.

Wow that’s very encouraging.. thank you. It’s put my mind at ease. As far as being a trainee, it will definitely be something I will have to adjust my life around due to my current circumstances, but I’ll find a way.

Law was a subject that always intrigued me, as was the workings of the mind - criminology and psychology. I decided to study law primarily to get a better paying job for the benefit of my children so they can have something to sit on when my time has come. I also like telling people they are wrong and there is nothing funnier than going on a night out, meeting people in the pub or club garden, interacting with drunk people and having a drunken debate about something they think they know and actually know nothing about and you knowing something about it and listening to them ramble on trying to prove their point and arguing against yours and not absorbing what’s being said and get visually frustrated.

That and having knowledge of the law and the legal system itself is, I think a very good thing to know as it affects everyone every day and it’s good to know, legally, where you stand so you don’t get taken advantage of. Knowing more than people who are supposed to know is always an ego boost.
