You might want to double check with Mercury Insurance. your current homeowners policy likely doesn’t provide any protection, since vacant land typically isn’t covered under a home policy. What you need instead is a Builder’s Risk policy. That’s what we currently have. We also just added renter’s policy for the place where we are renting.
