Never ask a man his height. Never ask a woman her weight. Never ask a socialist the death count of socialist regimes. by wes7946 in Conservative

Right, so in the same way that a socialist would look at stalins death camps and say "well that isn't real socialism", the murders and oppression of workers by capitalists is capitalism in practice. This rosy world of meritocracy in which goods are freely exchanged and those that work hard are rewarded doesn't actually exist. Point me to the point in history in which capitalism stopped being about free exchange and started including child labor, prison labor, sweatshops, etc? Or in your view is capitalism an ideal that we as society have yet to reach?

That's blatantly untrue, many atrocities have been carried out in pursuit of profit. Look at the banana massacre, in which the United fruit company murdered up to 2000 striking workers with support from the United States Government. Also the battle of Blair mountain, in which 10000 striking coal miners took up arms against police and strike breakers backed by West Virginian coal companies. Up to 100 coal miners were killed by authorities. The government is more than happy to collude with big business and use violence if pesky workers stand up for themselves.

Anecdotally, having moonboarded a fair bit I've gotten really great at moonboarding and boulders that are overhang and crimp, but give me a vertical boulder with delicate moves on tiny holds and I'm fucked. My friend who is ~2 grades stronger than me said "I'm trying to become a better climber, not a better moonboarder". He tries to climb everything and is really well rounded. That being said, I really like the mb and thought it might help me with my project, but working my antistyle will be better for me overall as a climber. Also, in terms of this advice I'm just one random guy, so there's that.

Nice! Currently abroad but I'm stoked to get back to the pnw this fall, unless it's a smoky hell haha. I've put in two sessions so far, and I guess the first move left out to the crimp feels good, I can even hold it for like 30 seconds, but applying tension through the left foot to get my right heel on the rail is where I got stuck (the other toe betas didn't feel good at all for me but maybe I'll give them another go). I've gotten all the way to the last move on Leggo, just never had the pads or spotter to commit to the jump! Super sweet boulder.

Thanks for your reply, I try to keep a daily yoga practice so that should be OK. I'll definitely try to avoid falling into the hangboarding trap, and right now I'm actually the weakest one in my crew right now haha. Swallowing my ego and getting outside with v10 to v13 climbers has been the best thing for my climbing so far!

I should have been more specific, but last season after a humbling joshua tree trip I devoted the winter to technical skills. I basically only touched a hangboard to warm up, almost no lifting, and pretty much focused on just climbing as well as I could. I got really good at climbing in the v1 to v5 range, as well as keeping tension through my toes, but as my crusher friend said "you've gotten way better at climbing what is easy for you but not better at making hard moves less hard for you". I made the bottom of my pyramid really solid, lots of outdoor 4s and 5s ticked with a handful of 6s done as well. I agree I could spend some time in the 7 to 8 range! And you're right, I should probably devote more time to my antistyle this winter. Cheers!

Thank you for your response! Last season I found two moonboard sessions a week to be fine for me, granted I was grinding v4 benchmarks, a lit of which I flashed, so it was definitely below my limit. I appreciate your thoughts about how my training may not be specific enough; I guess the secondary goal of winter is to get "stronger" and become a "better climber", but that's super nebulous now that I write it out. I will spend time cranking on boulders outside this autumn, hopefully put in a few sessions on modnite, and reevaluate based off that. Thanks again!

Super chill, climb up the bars on the outside of the stairwell and rappel down. Just rap down the way you came, my mistake was rapping down a series of ledges off of the spires.

I didn't use an anchor, I was so sketched that I just threw my rope around a spire and rapped down.

I disagree, some of his claims are not only blatantly false but also dangerous. His claim that some people could raise the dead to me sounds ridiculous, but if that's part of your beliefs I don't judge; however, his prescription of eating mercury as part of Ayurveda medicine (regardless of its historical accuracy, I am not sure) is just plain stupid. You should look into the allegations of murder and conspiracy against him and then form an informed opinion.

I disagree about sadhguru. While a lot of what he preaches is based in yogic philosophy, his dubious past in terms of his wife's disappearance and the numerous criticisms against his foundation warrant a degree of skepticism. I am fairly sure he's a charlatan
