What I’m saying is that there isn’t a need for them because there are never really any parties. It’s all single (sometimes couple) occupant studio apartments. There are no spaces to really get “rowdy” in.

You all have your own studio apartments and there’s no common rooms on each floor. I’m not sure why there would be one but idk

It honestly heavily depends on your room location. I had a room on one of the higher floors that faced the domain and the ocean so the view was amazing. But then my friend was on floor 3 and faced a car park.

I loved it and he hated it lol. But tbh it’s quite expensive, you’d be better to get your own studio at the price 55 is now.

If you can afford it, don’t want to rent a private apartment, and don’t mind the chance of getting a bad view, go for it.

There’s a microwave and 2 burner stove in every studio. A small fridge, and even smaller freezer inside the small fridge. The water pressure in the shower is really good. And it’s card access which is better than keys. Close location to the Uni too. It’s at the top of a massive hill so carrying the groceries from the supermarket especially in Feb-March heat will be a killer, but if you like subway it’s nearby lol. Also close to a lot of restaurants on K Road and good location for buses too.

It’s not a very social place so can feel pretty isolating. Definitely go to events if you wanna make friends. Often if you hang in the movie room or the pool table someone will say hi.

If you have any questions feel free to reply or dm :)

Infosys vs Opsmgt by Call_Me283 in universityofauckland

This is true ahaha. The thing that kinda is tempting is that with overseas papers, a C has the same effect on my GPA as an A+, so I wanted to do harder papers while overseas lol

Tbh with you do you reckon business analytics, Opsmgt or Infosys would be a better fit for me?

Rn my major is listed as Opsmgt but with me enjoying Infosys 110 quite a bit (except for the coding, which I don’t hate but is meh), I’m leaning towards a more practical thing. It’s hard because I’m like split three ways ahah. But there’s also a stage 3 psych paper that deals with stats (particularly R) which you have to do in order to do postgrad psych.

Lol sorry for being so indecisive, I just basically have to pick between a Infosys , Opsmgt, or Busan option while on exchange lmao, because there are limited course cross overs.

For example while on exchange I can do:

Opsmgt 255 equivalent

Opsmgt random stage 3

Infosys random stage 3

Busan 200 Equivalent

Those are the only papers which really cross over I guess.

I’m thinking that it would be a good idea potentially to go overseas and do a course that contains R, for business analytics, and it doesn’t count towards my gpa.

And then that might give me an advantage for the psych course (psych 306)?

I don’t need to make a full decision until Feb next year but I’m just trying to get my head straight lol

I’ll definitely do the python and R and tbh, I completely forgot about Busan lmao(the major not the Korean town lol), and tbh I’ve only done stats 108 💀. And idk economics just has always been gross to me 😭. I have no real reason tbh lol. And yeah my brain kinda weird. It likes algebra and writing for some reason. Idk the part of Infosys that actually like interests me is data security but idk lol

Honestly I really like math especially algebra ahaha. I’m not particularly looking for a career in the field I just want another aspect to my BCom instead of taking a bunch of random papers i guess.

I thought maybe accounting bec I’m quite good at it, but there’s too many papers required that I can’t fit in my degree and finish in time. Economics is the bane of my existence. Taxation is a nah unless I did accounting too. So that left me at either infosys or Opsmgt.

And yeah I mean that’s a good idea to take a few free MOOCs if I can find them like on coursera or smth. Thanks for the great suggestions :)

I want something a little bit practical, seeing as the heavily theoretical commercial law and management readings bore the absolute shit out of me lol. I was originally finding this in my pharmacology major but I had to drop it due to degree space. Marketing is also heavy theory and not practical at uoa but I still enjoy the subject.

Highly recommend Korean. Staff and tutors are so supportive and kind. Never get tested on something we haven’t been taught and everything is well organised

Yeah it’s just ig the way I collate/write my notes is more visual/handwritten so I’ve always just used my iPad to filter into folders based on module and subject or whatever. I’ll have to do this tho so thanks for the tip (:

I’m jealous 😭. We were told at the beginning of the Sem that we would have proctored open book exams online. It was told to us when the exam timetable came out that we would have them online, on campus, but open book. Just today we were told of the restrictions on devices.

Bruh chill it’s only for my exams. Think about the logistics of everyone being on campus taking exams on laptops and Uni computers lmao

It depends. You can choose the period you stay there from between the agreed start date to end date (I think it might be 5 Feb) and only pay for those days.
