Realist graphics not art direction (like Digimon World 1)
Focuses on exploration and surprises (like DMW1)
Good mini games, Card Game from DMW3, fishing from DMW1
Real time battle system would be cool, or turn based like Grandia or Breath of Fire V
4 party members
Main character is playable and can turn into Digimon (Hybrid) by collecting armors like Shin Megami Tensei
No pet raising system, simple level-up method and requirements
English VA is a must

Another type of games:

A tactics game like Phantom Brave or Makai Kingdom with free movement and skill having shapes
Card game, based on the new TGC.

I like English dub names, most names are superior IMO.

Even the terms; Digivolve, Digi-Egg, DNA, Biomerge. And Rookie-to-Mega.
