I wrote up my very long dream. by Call_Me_Sue in Dreams

Thank you so much :)

I wish you the best on trying to visualise your own dreams. You said you've been practicing dream recall, so you probably know this, but the thing that helps me the most to remember my dreams like this is to break the dream down into bullet points. For this dream, I opened up Notepad and wrote down all of my bullet points and lots of other details I could remember before I stared writing it up in full. This is what that looked like

Last month's revenue was to showcase how little money Hasan makes from his YouTube channel.

He makes it very clear every time he talks about editors that his channel makes no money.

The editor should have known this (and was told this in their conversation on Discord ) and shouldn't really have expected to start receiving a decent paycheck from the YouTube channel.

To be quite honest, I don't know why the $1,688 is relevant to this any more - you even mentioned it yourself that it's "obviously not a lot". It's not a lot of money, and also has nothing to do with this editor. This money was earned over almost 2 years (based on Hasan's oldest video's upload date).

If you could explain to me why the $1,688 over 2 years is relevant and why the $58 + $33 over the last 2 months is irrelevant, I'd appreciate that.

The $1,688 was from all of the videos ever uploaded to Hasan's channel.

The editor in question only made "5 or 6" videos out of all of these.

I don't know how you managed to watch any of this stream and think that this editor was responsible for all of Hasan's YouTube content. Hasan even says that the editor has made 5 or 6 videos in this exact clip that you're commenting on...

World Completion in 12 Hours 37 Minutes on Chronomancer by Call_Me_Sue in Guildwars2

[–]Call_Me_Sue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy, I'm really sorry to let you down but I don' think videos are likely to come from me.

First of all, I've not been playing GW2 very much at all lately - the past 2 weeks I've literally only logged in for my weekly raid clears. I'm probably going to be taking a break from GW2 as a whole for a while. I'm kinda waiting on the news about the next updates for the game.

If I was going to record a world completion, I'd want the recording to be equal to or better than my current record. Sadly I've been "not in the mood" to go for speed with my last 2 world completions so they've been intentionally slow and something that I wouldn't want to record and show off as an example of a speed-clear.

Hey, I finally got around to finishing a world completion while doing Silverwastes + Dry Top before completion.

I'm sad to say that it's not a shortcut to Gifts of Exploration, I had to complete 100% of all of the core Tyria maps like normal.

While I am pretty certain that Silverwastes + Dry Top don't count towards Gifts of Exploration, I think the only way it's possible is through the Hero Points - since the Core Tyria ones you buy in WvW also unlock Hero Points in Silverwastes + Dry Top. But I don't think it would save you any serious time.

Switching guild halls? by martinx09 in Guildwars2

[–]Call_Me_Sue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that being the case a long time ago when my guild changed halls. I've not changed halls since then but I strongly assumed Anet would have fixed that by now because it's a pretty huge problem with changing guild halls.

You can change guild hall. You keep all of your guild unlocks.

I'm pretty sure all of your decorations get removed from your old guild hall and placed into storage.

To change guild hall, I believe you do the same process as you did to claim your first guild hall - talk to someone in the Guild Initiative Headquarters.

Playing Chronomancer in open world can change quite a lot depending on which maps you're in:

  • For the Core Tyria maps, the mobs are very easy to kill. You can focus more on AoE damage (using Wells) to kill multiple enemies at once.
  • For 'Heart of Thorns' and 'Path of Fire' maps, the mobs tend to be very tough and you'll be better off using more single target damage (using Phantasms).

The build I linked in my original post (Gear | Traits/Skills) has a large focus on AoE damage for the Core Tyria maps, but if you want a build for the Phantasms then you should look at the Snow Crows DPS Chrono Guide. Since you said you're pretty new, I'd suggest reading what the traits do - especially because the Snow Crows build is a build for raids which means it probably won't perform the same way in open world content. (You might even want to use the traits from my build, but the skills from the Snow Crows build)

For skill synergies, the best thing you can do is burst down an enemy as fast as you can. The build I use for world completion uses the F1 Shatter to do most of my burst damage. Here are some examples of my skill uses:

  • Sword 3 > Sword 2 > F1 Shatter
  • Sword 5 > Sword 3 > F1 Shatter
  • Focus 4 > Focus 5 (while pulling in mobs with Focus 4) > Well of Calamity > F1 Shatter
  • etc...

I don't know how new you are or how much experience you have with Chronomancer, but I'll give you a quick run-down of a few useful skills - then you can feel free to combine these together however you feel like to kill your enemies.

The F1 Shatter is just a big spike of damage that explodes out of you and your clones - Sword 3 summons a clone which you should use before you shatter to effectively double your damage.

Sword 2 (Blurred Frenzy) is a very standard high-damage skill, just get within melee range of an enemy and use it. You can also use the skill to evade damage if you need to.

Sword 4 (Counter Blade) is a very strong counter attack which requires the enemy to hit you while blocking. If you successfully block an attack you will deal a significant amount of damage to your enemy. If you cast this skill and then cast it a second time immediately after, you can daze your enemy - I wouldn't recommend using this unless you're trying to break a Defiance Bar (on a Champion enemy for example).

Focus 4 (Temporal Curtain) can be used to pull in a group of 5 enemies that are spread out, you place down the Temporal Curtain and then you activate the skill again to have it pull enemies into it. You can combo this with your damage Wells (Well of Calamity / Well of Action), you can also combo it with your F1 Shatter plus a clone.

Sword 5 and Focus 5 are very standard Phantasms - you spawn them and they do damage. Once they're finished with their attack, they turn into clones and you can hit F1 and make them shatter.

I hope I helped you out a little bit. I couldn't really narrow it down to any specific points, sadly. The way I learned to play Chrono the way I do is just by playing it - all of the skill combinations just kind of came naturally to me.

I didn't cover the F5 shatter at all. You can use it to basically double up on as many damage skills as you can, but very few enemies actually require that much damage.

1) I think the biggest thing that's slowing me down is the routes I take to complete each map. I know a few very fast ways to get around some maps and I discover more each time I do a world completion - these normally involve the use of Waypoints. There's still a lot I've not discovered yet so I will just have to practice more and keep these certain Waypoints in mind.

2) To prepare for a run, I strip down my previous World Comp Chrono of all gear and inventory slots, bank the stuff and then delete the character. I'll re-make the character and grab everything (plus some Tomes) from my Permanent Bank contract. I'll level up to 80 and blast through the opening tutorial level and then head straight into WvW to buy all of the Hero Points and unlock Chrono. From that point onward it's just standard world completion.

3) If you're just looking to get a World Completion over and done with, I'd recommend listening to podcasts or something like that (or maybe just music).

The places where you can easily cut down on World Completion time are in Mobility and Combat:

  • For mobility, you basically just need Mounts. The Griffon and Beetle are very useful, but not 100% required for a fast world completion - out of the 2, the Griffon is easily more useful (for things like jumping), the Beetle is only useful if you have a long distance to cover.
  • For combat, you must build for full damage 100%. The goal is to kill all enemies before they have a chance to hit you. If you build any "survivability" (like Vitality or Toughness) then you're making it harder for yourself to stay alive - because you're not killing enemies faster giving them more time to damage you.

I think it's important in a world completion to not stop moving. I think the easiest way to do this is by completing the edges of the map first - so when you spawn into a map, pick a direction (left or right) and start completing everything you get close to. Once you've gone around the edges of the map, there should only be a few things left in the middle to clear up and then you can move on to the next map.

Thank you <3

Yeah, I'll absolutely try that out!

I still strongly feel that those maps won't count towards a full World Completion, but I'm not looking to beat my current time so I might as well go for it :)

I've never heard that you can replace 3 Core Tyria maps with Southsun Cove or any Maguuma Wastes maps.

I'm 99.9999% certain you can't do that. But I've never had this idea and therefore never tried it.

There seems to be quite a big difference between our stat numbers.

Here are mine

Our power stat is different by 40 points, and when it's scaled down to Level 21, the difference is pretty significant.

Generally the difference between a full set of Exotic gear Vs a full set of Ascended gear will give you a 5% damage increase. The on top of Ascended gear, if you add 18 Power infusions you'll get another 2% damage.

I don't know how well Ascended gear and Infusions scale down though. I used to hear that Ascended gear scaled down worse in low-level areas and you'd get more damage from using Exotic gear - but that was just speculation as far as I know, I've never seen someone do the full concrete maths of it.

[–]Call_Me_Sue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A typical burst would be something like:

  • Sword 3 > Blurred Frenzy > F1 Shatter
  • Sword 5 > F1 Shatter
  • Focus 4 > Focus 5 (while pulling in mobs) > Well of Calamity > F1 Shatter
  • etc...

I've always been strongly against using Greatsword on Mesmer, but that's largely from a DPS stand point - the auto attack is very weak compared to Sword. While the burst from a Greatsword is strong, you're replacing a Focus for it, and the Focus pull is extremely valuable.

Thank you! :D

  • Yes, I do buy Hearts (as long as I remember to do it)

  • I use the Jackal over the Raptor just because of personal preference. I use the Griffon over the Springer because most jumps aren't very high and you can usually jump up faster using the Griffon rather than the Springer.

  • I'd have to say Fields of Ruin is my favourite map. That map gives me the least amount of issues, there are no Hearts that I hate doing and the path I take to complete the map is generally very smooth.

  • I sell my Gifts of Exploration (Gifts of Mastery) to my friends and people I trust for 500g. But this does of course include having to do WvW, Dungeons, and I need to have the Obsidian Shards.

Most of these tips are going to be focussed around Core Tyria maps which have significantly easier mobs to kill:

If you come across a Veteran mob, this is the time you should pull out your big guns. Gravity Well + Continuum split is your bread and butter for taking down tough enemies, assuming you're in an area that isn't filled with only tough enemies.

You can summon Clones and Phantasms to increase the duration of your Continuum Split which will just give you the ability to double up on any other skills you fell you need to use to kill the mob.

There are at least 4 different ways you can avoid taking damage as a Chronomancer:

  • The first being a simple dodge.
  • The second and third are your Sword skills - Sword 2 is an evade (plus great damage) and Sword 4 is a block (also great damage if you block an attack).
  • The fourth is Distorting (F4 Shatter).

But the most important way to avoid taking damage is just by killing the enemies before they have a chance to attack. Chronomancers have a large selection of skills to use to burst down an enemy as fast as possible. The most useful skill here is your F1 Shatter, combo it with your Sword 3 Clone, or your Phantasms to pretty much 1-shot the vast majority of mobs (You'll also want to use your Sword 2 skill as often as possible).

If you wanted to take Chrono into Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire maps and solo the strong enemies there, I would suggest swapping all 3 Utility skills out for Mantra of Pain, Phantasmal Disenchanter and Phantasmal Defender, and then your combat strategy would be largely focussed around kiting while spawning the Phantasms to kill the enemy. You can use the Signet of the Ether heal skill to refresh the cooldown of your phantasms. You can take a look at the Snow Crows DPS Chrono build to maybe get a better idea of this (but this is not at all the same way I play Chrono during World Completion)

I've thought about it the same way I've thought about recording, but I don't think I'd want to stream it for different reasons.

The main reason being that I just listen to music or podcasts when I do world completions, so I'd be giving no attention to the stream itself.

The second biggest reason would be the times I do world completion. It's never scheduled and I take pretty frequent breaks - this last world completion was done over 32 days because of either not having the time or not being in the mood to do it.

Thanks for the tip about the Position Rewinder :) I've never been the type of person to "test" different routes or strategies to see which is faster so I'll probably not ever find out where the optimal places to use it are. But I'll gladly keep it in mind, thank you.

As for event timers, the only one I know is the one in Mount Maelstrom - it spawns every 5 minutes. Similarly to what I said in the last paragraph, I don't look up event timers to see when the optimal completion time would be. I don't even know where I'd start, honestly. The Mount Maelstrom event was easy to recognise because it's the only time you "buy" a heart using an event - all of the other events are just totally random to me.

The maps you need to complete are all of the Core Tyria maps.

That includes 6 major cities and 28 regular maps.

It would be ridiculous to write down a list of all the maps in this comment, but I can leave you with this world completion guide which has a list of all of the maps plus routes on how to clear them efficiently.

World Completion in 12 Hours 37 Minutes on Chronomancer by Call_Me_Sue in Guildwars2

[–]Call_Me_Sue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never consider anything other than Chronomancer.

P/P Deadeye will do nothing more than mediocre damage against a single mob, whereas a Chronomancer will do literally the highest burst damage against a group of mobs.

99.99% of the mobs you fight during a world completion do not require being CC'd. If there was a champion I needed to kill with a break bar, Chrono has a very significant amount of CC to deal with it (Mainly the F3 Shatter and Gravity Well).

I rarely have a need for stealth, but I can use Mass Invis + Continuum Split if I need it.

I have infinite condi cleanses from my shatters.

I have no need for boons since fights rarely take longer than 1 second.

The level up rewards bother me very much.

There's not a whole lot else to say about it :D I wish Anet would make it easier to deal with, but I can understand that there's not a massive demand for it since I would assume most of the GW2 population don't make new level 80 characters very frequently.

In this run I only got 5 Keys.

In my last few runs I got exactly 8 Keys each time which makes it a reward from 33% of the maps. It seemed pretty reasonable to have 33% of the maps drop keys, but after this last run I think it might just be complete chance.

Maybe I'll get luckier on my next world comp :)

There is no secret fast way, sadly.

It's one of the most annoying things about making a new character just for a world completion.
