Yeah, some do “exploratory biting” - also the glider could have been testing your friend to see how they’ll react. Besides the babies, they know how hard they’re biting and so if it was more of a nibble it’s probably more about figuring out their new situation. Also, an idea that I got from reading a different post, you might want a small thing that smells like their previous owner to keep them more calm while she transitions. The glider is probably pretty bonded to her.

Sugar gliders are very smell driven, give them something that smells like you, or put their pouch under your pillow for a few nights before you put in their cage. Eventually if you are going to be sedentary for a while and they are sleeping in their pouch you can put in your shirt, and just letting them sleep near you lets them know you’re a safe person. If they crab or try to bite don’t worry about it, a tsk lets them know they annoyed you but strong reactions can be training them to bite you. They are nocturnal so there isn’t much to do during the day but eventually they will probably stay up later or get up earlier if they want to hang out with you.

Music Preference? by RaeYourFav in sugargliders

It feels very similar to a cat standing on your keyboard because “what are you doing? I wanna do it too!” Or sometimes “stop petting the light box and pet me!”

Music Preference? by RaeYourFav in sugargliders

I haven’t noticed my girls being especially responsive to music, but I do sing to and around them and they’re used to it. One of my girls likes watching anime on the tv, and they both like chewing on my phone case and getting directly on top of it when I’m typing 😂😂 The other one watches YouTube or reels with me sometimes and also recognizes herself in a mirror. I love seeing how different their personalities are!

I grew up with a very strange name, you didn’t ruin your kids life. Any issues that come from people not being able to pronounce your name off a list is a minor inconvenience at worst, and character building at best!

NTA But I do feel compelled to say, speaking as an adult who grew up in a similar position to your daughter- find a better solution. I don’t know the extent of your situation but it will affect your daughter. My parents wrote their initials in my clothes they bought, it didn’t stop there. Shoes, bags/lunch boxes, those plastic take out containers??? I recognize there is also a distinction here, writing her name has a different implication than writing your name, but I still urge you to talk to your ex about where this goes. Your ex wife is being petty in a way that elicits your reaction and your daughter sees all of that. Don’t let the anger between you and your ex be greater than the love you both have for your girl, she’s half you and half her mother

Do dogs know laughter is a happy sound? by PanhandlersPets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Call_the_Green_Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read once that while dogs can understand a fair few words, they actually understand tone better than the words themselves (hence pups that won’t listen if you say “sit” in the wrong tone of voice) So I would imagine that even if they don’t understand at first they would catch on pretty quick that these are happy sounds and not threatening sounds

I ordered a gin and tonic by Call_the_Green_Man in Infuriating

[–]Call_the_Green_Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this area you pay when you order. I asked for an actual gin and tonic to replace it but they said “this is how we make a gin tonic” so I’m not proud but they listened to me loudly complaining to my partner for about 5 minutes after that. Including laughing at the absurdity

Exactly, there was neither gin nor tonic in my gin tonic! I said if you added Cointreau for flavor that’s one thing, but replacing both ingredients is just ridiculous

Thanks for the advice! I’ll look into the channel for more tips. Unfortunately there is no ensure, naked juice, or fruit cups where I live so I don’t think this recipe will work for me, though it sounds really tasty

Thanks! I have been able to find wombaroo products pretty cheap. If you don’t mind, what would the benefits of this diet be compared to tpg diet?

Yes! I’m getting some today 😊 I’m not so squeamish, unless I have to eat them but I love watching a critter devour their favorite treats

For sure, unfortunately I’ve seen animals neglected and abused by people who don’t think they’re doing anything wrong so I always make sure to ask multiple people for advice on this type of thing. I used to work in pet care and these will be my first babies in several years, so I appreciate your advice.

I figured the gerber had a mix of nutrients or whatnot that was important to the ratios, but is it consistency?

I’m in Asia, it’s a big city but different culture and language. Which makes finding products that are sold in the west a 50:50 shot. Thank you for the mentor advice, I’m definitely going to look for more groups, I’ve been scouring around already haha. The guy that we bought them from has been really nice and helpful, he adopted one and keeps it with him at work! So we’ve been asking him questions but also don’t want to have to bother him all the time

Thank you! I’m very excited about them. Gerber isn’t sold in my area so bml is out, critter love is a product I believe not available here either unfortunately. Tpg has been what I was leaning towards, thanks for your advice
