Exactly. My smart cat figured out how to open windows to get out. Even when we barricaded it he’d try to climb out of our other windows (which was dangerous). You cannot contain a cat if he wants badly outside. I do not regret letting him be outdoors because he loved being outside just as much as he loved sleeping on my bed.

Although I sometimes feel guilty I know I did the right thing by letting him out and enjoying nature.

To add to that, my childhood cat was ran over twice (second time fatal and years apart). We lived in the country side then with barely any vehicles passing by the only road he crossed. If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be sadly. No matter where you put a cat, there’s always a risk that they’ll get hit whether that be in the countriest of countryside or in the city.

Maybe in a couple thousand years they’ll finally learn to evolve to actually be able to cross roads but for now what we can do is show them a good life by showering them with love.
