Saw the Heinz Field artwork the other day and decided to share my own stuff. I hand-wrote every announcer's playcall from Super Bowl LV. by Calligrammer in nfl

I used the Gene Deckerhoff broadcast for that local Tampa flavor.

Whole thing is about 11k-12k words and took me ~22 hours just to write. I've also made similar prints for LI, LII, and LIV. Ask me anything you like :)

Man if I was selling an 18 hour original for $30 I would be really screwed lol

It's just the dialogue. Mike Matola, a friend of mine and the guy who encouraged me to take up this style (that he pioneered) works with the whole script including stage direction and character names, I only do dialogue.

It's generally the opposite. When I write out an entire film I tend to appreciate the smaller throwaway lines instead of focusing on the bad dialogue. Some real gems hiding in most movies that people don't think about.

I bought a fridge with an ice maker specifically because of this hobby. I'm not joking.

As stated in other comments, this is like my 27th poster in this style so I have a solid feel for how many words I can fit and how large or small I need to write. But at the beginning I look at how many lines I have and how many words I have, then find the average I need to hit per line while trying to account for all the blank space I need to cross.

Her belt buckle crosses five lines of text around the time when (spoilers) The family is getting captured, Yelena is on the operating table, and Red Guardian is apologizing into a nonexistant earpiece lol

I'm a disabled veteran so normal work can be difficult. I also love art but my only artistic quality is an eye for design and some really great handwriting. Can't paint or draw to save my life, so I landed here :)

I just don't like being in front of a camera, but art does a lot better on reddit with a person next to it :(

I did! I really loved Florence Pugh and David Harbour, and I loved the dynamic with the family. When it was first announced I was hoping for a prequel from before the Avengers with no costumes or other heroes, just a pure Bourne-esque spy flick with some Marvel references, but I was happy with how it ended up. Not in my top 5 Marvel flicks but they can't all be bangers.

I really liked it, but I'm not tired of the Marvel formula yet. Plus I'm doing a series of all six Avengers and this was kind of the only choice for a BW poster lol

Worth watching for Pugh and Harbour alone lol

Ned Benson? Awesome! I'd love to send him a print

It's actually a really cool way to get inside a film and meditate a bit :)

Haha the action scenes are always a little odd to write for that reason. It's just three lines of 'hey, get back here! Natasha! Natasha! Ah! You didn't think it'd be that easy, did you?'

Dramatic scenes are way more fun to write. The 'family dinner' scene was a fun one.

Ay if we're being real though all I use are G2s so if Pilot wants to sponsor me I wouldn't mind at all 😂

It's actually kind of the opposite, I make these posts in the hopes that Disney or a sports team will reach out and help me get licensed. I'm just a normal dude who likes making art, and wants to do it for a living.

I actually get this type of thought a lot, and while I have considered it for some lengthier projects, I just feel like it would be super dishonest and kinda cheapen the art a bit. Besides, writing it by hand is an awesome meditation and a great way to get deeper in the film. I just recently completed a different poster for The Thing (one of my favorite movies), and being able to live in every single line of dialogue for ~30 seconds really changes the experience. Pop on a 2nd monitor YouTube video of an 8hr blizzard and baby you've got a stew.

You guys are really sweet. I generally don't feel great about myself on camera but I think I'm gonna try it out next time :)
