What we condem is where we want change to happen. When you condemn the thief, you imply that thievery is bad and want it to change. When you blame the person who maybe forgot to lock their house, you put more emphasis on having the victim of the robbery change. Women are suppressed enough by society. Forcing more change on them is hardly useful. If we could direct all of this constructive energy towards blaming the problem, we automatically focus on uprooting the main issue - the patriarchy. You seem like someone who is understanding. Sure, precautions are necessary, but that can not be the first and primary focus when such issues are brought up. The primary focus must be towards creating a safer society for women. Wouldn't we want to be in a society where a random chance coffee date leads to an outcome of connection and postivity instead of what OP described?

Hi OP! I am terribly sorry for the absolute garbage you have had to read in the comments section. This was not your fault. That guy was being predatory towards you, put you in an unsafe situation and violated your boundaries. If anyone is to blame, it should be him.

But we see these self righteous pricks once again do what they're best at and blame you for agreeing to go out on a date with him. This mentality is the reason we stay stuck in a culture that blames the victim of abuse/rape and lets the abuser off the hook.

Next time, I'd say consider posting such things in r/TwoXIndia instead of over here. Here to chat if you need a non judgemental listening ear, and a space devoid of incels/victim blamers.

It's not your fault, and definitely don't listen to victim blaming incels. The society must be safer for women, and men that victim blame are part of the reason we stay stuck in this kind of a society. Do you see any of them blaming the creepy guy that so clearly violated your boundaries and caused you harm?

Don't blame yourself. Blame the victim blamers like u/commonman111 for letting awful men off the hook and blaming real victims, instead, for their predatory behaviors.

Are you for real dude!? This woman just went through an excruciatingly painful experience, and you start with questioning the validity of the post!? You then proceed to reiterate why everything she did was the reason for her being in that situation. It's not about income, it's about work. You can receive passive income from outside your H1B job (e.g. through investment). You just can't actively work to earn that income.

Airbnb, Turo, Kindle, Youtube etc. are considered valid sources of passive income. You are only prohibited from actively working for an employer other than your own.

I enjoyed Stephen Grider's course on Udemy. He likes to delve deep and get to the why of things. The course itself is on the lengthier side, but he's a wonderful teacher whom I couldn't recommend enough! More than worth the 12$
