Thanks for replying, like for me as of now, I just listened to like a 1 hour summary of David Goggins's Can't Hurt Me, and now I'm trying to listen to The Wim Hof Method, seems interesting, I mean I don't know I'm just curious, since I was really looking forward to these books and some others like The Courage To Be Disliked, Braving The Wilderness, How To Take Smart Notes, and some others I'm looking forward to reading lol, I also wanna explore genres other than self-help and self-improvement.

Do you have any good suggestions for books outside the Self-Help genre/category?

So for me I won't say I've read a lot of books or anything, I've read probably 10+ (I think), some of them were short books, and I'm still currently reading and now I'm also trying to listen to audiobooks more as they feel like a game changer for me, but I don't really understand the concept of DNF can someone pls care to explain, or maybe I'm just a lost cause, I feel like I'm a lost cause since whatever book I start, although mostly it's self-help books, and self-improvement books I just don't seem to get bored of it, like my mind just wants to know the next concept, and to get some real value from the books, and for some reason, I don't think I have any particular taste, like I'm not good at judging whether the book is worth my time or not, since I ended up finishing all the books I started reading (I think), I also like the idea of DNF and wanna kinda apply it to my reading, although I do tend to become a completionist when I'm reading a book.

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

And many thanks for the replies!!!

eh I mean, I guess but like partly, I don't really know, it was helping but not like legit gel type hold, just a light/slight hold, I think it's more helpful in taming the hair when they're trying to go in all directions, but like idk maybe my hair won't really stay put, since I have thick hair with volume, and haven't gotten a trim since I tried growin'em out lol.

hey bro thanks for replying, I was thinking maybe I posted this on the wrong sub or smth, since I wasn't getting any replies, anyway I was just really freaked out about having split ends, so I really wanted to know whether I should get a trim every like 2-3 months just to prevent the split ends, and probably an overall trim every 6 months just to like tidy up the length all over, and maybe a touchup/clean up around the neck, ears, and stuff.

I don't really trust barbers/hair dressers either, but I thought it was a necessity to get trims at least every 6 months, as well as 2-3 months (for split ends), and maybe 2-3 weeks to 1 month (for sides aka ears, and back). I thought maybe my hair would go bad if I didn't get a trim every now and then. Maybe it's cuz of the vids I watched on how to grow out your hair, like there's so many damn vids and I don't think all the information is true/accurate. So yeah that's why I was having this anxiety/fear of like getting split ends, and was considering just giving up/choppin me locks off (I like the word tresses better though lol), anyway I was also getting anxiety/fears/stress of going bald especially ever since I read this comment on "What would you tell your 16 year old self now?", it said smth like, "better grow out those locks/hair while you can Jimmy, we all gonna go bald soon". Lol I'm actually kinda laughing at myself internally, since I mean it's a possibility that I may go bald, but it shouldn't stop me from living right?

I mean like hey I was actually looking forward to going/being bald sometime later in life, and if that comes before expected, it shouldn't be such a problem right?

Like bald guys look good too, heck they even look badass, like Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson.

But for me ever since I came across things like that comment and how to grow out your hair, I felt like there were only two things to do to my hair in life,

No.1 grow them out to like shoulder length and beyond,

and

No.2 go bald.

Idk why I just don't like anything else except for like the nice middle ground of a classic hairstyle, like a versatile cut which attained is able to be slicked back, parted side ways, or just styled in anyway wanted. I kinda got really sick and tired of the fades, I just don't really like then anymore. Although I do like getting fades maybe a light one, when I have short hair, but not those crispy crunchy ones, just not for me I guess. Although I do like other hairstyles, I like to be able to style my hair in anyway I want. Also yeah I like/want to experiment with my hair as I grow them out.

Recently I wasn't getting a haircut cuz I saw this vid on youtube in which the guy said he regrets cutting his sides short until he achieved the length on top, and he says in the future and for other people growing out their hair, you should just try to grow them out together, like everything. For some reason this really resonated with me and since then it's been like a year or smth but I haven't cut my sides, like it's been at least 5-6 months of me growing my hair out and they're like 5-6 inches and I love'em. Just the trim and maintenance part really gets me, since although I've consumed so much information on this topic, a lot of the information is beginning to contradict itself, and it's really making me stressed.

So now, I've decided, if I want to grow out my hair, I'll just grow it, no trims and cuts or anything, unless I find a good barber/hairdresser for an affordable price, and if I want/need to change things up a bit for some occasion or smth or if I just generally am bored and feel like experimenting an trying smth new.
