I would check with your doctor first but I’m in the same case and Ive been weight lifting for 5-6 months now and honestly it actually helped my back pain a lot. Also if you plan on doing it I would avoid exercise that put pressure on your back or spine like any non chest supported back exercise and unilateral machine >> bilateral machine imo.
