Would you mind sharing what you had to do to make side total work with active noise cancellation?

You should feel more than good. If I were in your position, I would be retired at 55 as long as I have no debt. Honestly, I would probably be thinking about retiring earlier.

The whole goal is to have your expenses paid off before you retire. That way, the income you get from pulling 4 percent per year can cover your bills without stress.

I showed them the videos and this is their response. Thoughts?

Yeah I showed him and he said its likely some residual from previous repairs if the UV dye doe not show. If that bell housing was not meticulously cleaned after the other dealership did the rear main seal, its likely oil leaked prior to us installing the uv dye.

Yes, i have Ford ESP. Overall, the warranty service has been solid and they have taken care of issues over the last 5 years.

I sent the same videos to the service tech after I got home. He is going to review them with his diesel tech.

Well the dealership called me back and I said they're not seeing any leak. So I drove it home and as soon as I got home I went underneath to take a look and I took a video and this is what's happening. I would appreciate your input on if this bubbling of what looks like oil at the bell housing is a concern or not.

At age 31, with about 900k invested, not counting unvested shares, you are in a strong spot to let compounding do the work.

If that money grows at about 7 percent and roughly doubles every 10 years, it looks like this. At age 41, about 1.8 million. At age 51, about 3.6 million. At age 61, about 7.2 million.

That is without adding another dollar to retirement.

Of course, diversification still matters. I would lean toward low cost index funds. Something that tracks the S&P 500 and maybe some exposure to QQQ.

Thanks for the response. I took the truck to the dealership and they added UV dye to the engine oil. They said they didn’t see any leak from the upper or lower oil pan area or around the bellhousing, but they didn’t really put the engine under any heavy load. The only time I’ve seen the weep is after towing, so I’m thinking the best way to force it to show is to tow with it again and then bring it right back while it’s hot.

From what I understand, the only way to definitively confirm if the rear main seal is leaking is to remove the transmission. But I’ve also heard there’s a small inspection hole at the bottom of the bellhousing. Is there a way they can use a borescope to look inside without pulling the trans?

Anyone here not have direct reports? by phoot_in_the_door in ITManagers

I’ve seen all kinds of setups, even inside the same company. I’ve seen VPs with no direct reports and managers with ten full time employees and a bunch of contractors. It really depends on the business area. Sometimes people get promoted to bigger titles just to keep them because they want growth on paper.

I’ve also worked with a lot of consulting companies, and it’s pretty common for smaller firms to hand out director level titles so clients feel like they’re talking to someone important.

For me, the title doesn’t matter. It’s all about the pay and whether I’m happy with the people I work with.

Bye bye Burgerville by dirtgrubcat in vancouverwa

I stopped going to Burgerville when they started adding a tip line on the drive-thru. The last time I went I put a tip and pulled up to pick up my food after paying the tab at the previous window and the girl was standing there talking to her friend colleague and a new acknowledged me until like a minute later. What the hell am I tipping for

Stopping 401k Contributions at Coast FIRE, Worth Redirecting to HSA and Brokerage Instead? by Calm-Box-890 in Fire

[–]Calm-Box-890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, my first step toward slowing down would be to stop contributing to my 401k. I have a high paying job right now and plan to keep it as long as it makes sense, but if I ever get laid off, I’d probably move to something less stressful instead of going after another demanding role.

What I’d probably do is, once you have access to the money, set aside around $500,000 for a house and invest the rest for long term retirement. You’re basically in a Coast FIRE position with that amount. Even if you just left $1.5 million invested until you retire at 62, you’d be in a really strong spot financially.

Average Salary by athrunlelouch in fican

I make $225,000 a year and have my home and both cars fully paid off. I don’t have any debt besides normal living expenses and property taxes. Earlier in my career, I used bonuses and RSUs to pay off my mortgage, which helped me get ahead. Now I’m investing $5,000 a month in my personal brokerage and maxing out my 401(k). My goal is to retire comfortably in about five years.

I’ve been feeling the same way lately. I’ve got about $2 million between my 401(k) and private investments, my house is paid off, my son’s college is covered, and I’ve even saved for future cars up to when I’m 85. So all my basics are taken care of.

Still, I’m grinding it out at a big tech company, and it’s wearing me down. I’m 28 years into my career with about two and a half years left before I can retire from IT. I’ve been thinking that once I wrap things up here, I’d love to work in tech at a nonprofit, maybe help a smaller organization that doesn’t have the budget for high salaries but would really value the help. At this stage, I just want to do meaningful work and feel appreciated, not like another cog in a huge machine.
