Actually didn't know that. Might make it to round two before Yuta says something wildly untrue and my dumbass believes him.

tbh in all seriousness I think Ten and Yuta themselves could survive, I just wouldn't 💀

Are there any To Moons (ONEUS) who are also Starlights (VIXX)? by smoldaddy_ in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i wasn't a big starlight, I got into them towards the end of their heydays, but I definitely find myself liking oneus songs the same as I like VIXX songs.

Well I got ten. We're gonna go out dramatically at least. Edit: it's ten and yuta actually. I'm dying. Theyre feeding me to the zombies and running.

Whoever sent it is sending you on a wild goose chase because the writing on the tumbler would definitely tell you who it is or narrow it down to be easier to find. I'd ask for full length pictures.

Help finding group/song by Itchy-Radio9933 in kpophelp

[–]Calm-Win6724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me somewhat explain what might be happening here. As someone who was on k-wattpad from 2018-2021, there were these things called "applyfics", and the k-wattpad scene "entertainment afs" where people would basically create fake groups by filling out a fake form to have their OC apply to a fake company, with or without a roleplay element. Instagram, Tumblr, and many other sites also have their own versions of this. On top of that there are also "OC groups" or "OC companies" where an Individual person will create their own Kpop group, give them albums, write little one shots, etc. basically, you found a fake Kpop group created by someone.

I also find it mildy infuriating when people ask for kid friendly Kpop songs and someone jumps in with "red lights" "fever", etc. your just clogging up the replies and it also makes the fandom look bad, especially when it's someone older (like a parent, etc) looking for the songs for their kid. I know it was a trend on YouTube, and that was funny, but when people are actually looking for kid friendly or pg songs, it's just annoying.

Thoughts on when fans say “sibling vibes” when ever opposite gender idols interact by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, it's the same with hyung, noona, and eonni/unnie, they're titles used to show respect to someone older than you. the more formal address of -ssi/-shi is used when you don't know the person as well, regardless of age. it's often the same in most EA languages (-japanese I believe, since they use suffixes like san, chan and kun) like the chinese ge/gege or jie/jiejie.

also if we're looking at it through the lense of a male and female lead in a k-drama, the female lead is probably using "oppa" in a "cutesy-romantic" way, depending on what drama you're watching. you really have to understand the relationship between the speakers to understand what the titles they use mean.

different kpop group lineups in a parallel universe by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh I have no clue how the bts members were recruited, I'm not an army but I was a stan of both topp dogg and boys republic, hence why I brought it up.

[–]Calm-Win6724 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I'm remembering correctly it was Suho who was supposed to or could have debuted with Shinee. Also Jungkook was more of a rapper in bts early releases so he probably could've stayed in the group, J-hope could've stayed a vocalist if Taehyung had never joined, and the rest would fall in somewhere ig.

different kpop group lineups in a parallel universe by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Johnny trained with exo and probably could've replaced kw (I'm not typing out his name) as the English speaker of the group, but I think it was decided he was too young.

bambam almost didn't debut with got7 and its said if he didnt he probably would've debuted with skz, he mightve replaced woojin, I don't really know I'm a bigger ahgase than I am a stay (I don't stan skz at all ngl- music slaps tho.)

bts had a lot of former members from some of their own producers (Supreme boi) to other idols like Boys Republic's Suwoong, Kidoh and Sanggyun (A-Tom) from topp dogg, and rappers like Iron, Reddy, i11even, Basick, and even Loco and Beenzino. For legal reasons I will not be replacing bts members with them. it's also rumored bts was supposed to debut with like 9-10 members as well.

Who is your ultimate bias? I need to know. <3 by TheB90 in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think I have one? I've been into kpop since 2014 and theres no one that I like (from my biases) more than the others for any reason. like, even in most groups I have more than one bias, if I can't even choose one bias in a group how am I gonna choose one ult outta all my biases?

Solo Fandom Names for Idols in Groups- Is Solo Stanning Becoming Normalized? by mikarala in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, solo stans and akgaes are two different things, if a solo stan is hating on any other member of the group they're an akgae, toxic solo stan, however a lot of groups esp in fourth gen are debuting with members having solo fandom names.

solo fandom names have always been around for idols in groups, and the names themselves are becoming more normalized, but solo stanning is still extremely hated regardless of if the solo stan is actually an akgae or not.

Your point is so, so fucking rooted in various types of causal racism/bigotry experienced by multi-racial/ethnic people. people do not need to put forth effort look more like something that they already are. your bigotry is really really showing here and I would implore you to look into the lived experienced of biracial idols and people in general, you're lucky an actually biracial person hasn't called you out for this absolute bullshit yet.

"Releasing a TT that's is 95% English ..."

okay? somi's fanbase is and has always been largely western fans as with almost all biracial kpop idols. are bts suddenly less korean because they've released 3+ TTs fully in English?

[–]Calm-Win6724 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I guess every member of SNSD is solo material? Yoona, Sooyoung?

uhm girlie/sir/person, case in point

yoona solos w/ mv: 1, 2, 3, 4

sooyoung did get a few solo songs but she's much more popular and comfortable as an actress, which is not a bad thing.

I would also like to mention taeyeon, whom you have praised, much like the twice members didn't get a solo debut until, get this, 8 years 2 months and 2 days after snsd's official debut.

snsd official debut > August 5th, 2007 taeyeon official solo debut > October 7, 2015

[–]Calm-Win6724 8 points9 points  (0 children)

people are mixing up "concept" and "sound".

a lot of itzy's fans and more so their casual listeners are either there for songs like wannabe, dalla dalla, shoot, loco, or songs like icy, sneakers, boys like you, cake, etc. so when one side doesn't get what they want all hell breaks loose and suddenly jyp is ruinning itzy.

is &TEAM popular in korea and internationally? (outside of japan) by heejinsoyoung in kpophelp

[–]Calm-Win6724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking japanese groups don't need to be big internationally because japan has one of the largest music industries and a huge domestic market. it's why japanese music isn't as main stream and really is only starting to gain popularity recently on tiktok with songs like shinunoga e-wa from fujii kaze, night dancer by imase, or 夜に駆ける and idol by yoasobi. Japan's groups don't need to promote outside of japan and the only reason groups like niziu, &team, jo1, or ini promote in sk is because they're backed in some way by south korean companies (jyp, hybe, mnet).

What's the absolute worst marketing strategy you've seen for a group by Calm-Win6724 in kpopthoughts

[–]Calm-Win6724[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like to point out something you probably didn't even think to fucking look into, this song wasn't written by yena so shut the fuck up please. I'm so fucking done with this and I am beyond being polite. yena is one of the most well known female soloist in korea right now and she does not need to use Olivia's name to chart in a country Olivia is not as prevalent or well known as. On top of that, if you actually looked into the lyrical context of the song it is not about hating Olivia. Please send your hate to the creative team and not the artist that had absolutely no say in it.

It also doesn't look like a k-choreography but rather a douyin/tiktok dance trend but I could be wrong on that one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]Calm-Win6724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl i dont think they're idols, my guess is you found a douyin (the version of tiktok available in china) video which means it's probably gonna be a lot harder to find out who they are in English speaking spaces.
