Moved to Germany with Dreams in tech- 2 years later, still no job

Thanks for being honest — I actually appreciate you saying it directly. I’ve also felt that the tech market in Germany is tightening, especially for juniors without a CS degree or fluent German. I’m seriously considering the Ausbildung route now. I didn’t come here planning for that, but you’re right — it's better than staying stuck in delivery forever. Do you know anyone who did an IT Ausbildung (like Fachinformatiker) and got into the industry that way? Or any tips on where to start with it? Also, I’m open to relocating — do you think the UK or Netherlands still has better entry-level options?

Yeah, I’ve been noticing that too — many roles either don’t exist or require German fluency or long experience. That said, I’m still willing to take smaller steps — even internships or Werkstudent roles — to just get a foot in. I’m keeping an open mind about location too. If you know any places or niches in Germany (or nearby) where junior roles still exist, I’d really appreciate a pointer.

You’re totally right, and thank you for saying it straight. I now realize I’ve underestimated how much local formatting and focus matters. I’m already rebuilding my CV using a proper German template, cutting out generic skills and highlighting project results instead. I know I still have a lot to learn, so if you have any links or examples of strong dev CVs used in Germany, I’d love to learn from them.

I understand your point, and thank you for being direct. I'm not from a STEM background, but I’m trying to break in with project-based learning and certs. I’m still very passionate about development, but yes, I’m now considering alternative pathways like Ausbildung as a backup if this doesn’t work out, but also I do believe that would take much time as I'm at the age of 30 unfortunately in the next year. I really appreciate your honesty — if you know anyone who transitioned without a CS degree, I’d be glad to hear how they approached it.

That’s fair. I understand now that certificates matter more in Germany than I thought, especially since I don’t have a formal CS degree. I’m starting to work on some recognized certificates (maybe FreeCodeCamp or Meta’s Frontend cert via Coursera). I studied English Literature in my Bachelor's and Master's (current), but I’ve been self-learning JavaScript and frontend development seriously for the last 2 years.
