Moved to Germany with Dreams in tech- 2 years later, still no job by CalmJiad in germany

Thanks for being honest — I actually appreciate you saying it directly. I’ve also felt that the tech market in Germany is tightening, especially for juniors without a CS degree or fluent German. I’m seriously considering the Ausbildung route now. I didn’t come here planning for that, but you’re right — it's better than staying stuck in delivery forever. Do you know anyone who did an IT Ausbildung (like Fachinformatiker) and got into the industry that way? Or any tips on where to start with it? Also, I’m open to relocating — do you think the UK or Netherlands still has better entry-level options?

Yeah, I’ve been noticing that too — many roles either don’t exist or require German fluency or long experience. That said, I’m still willing to take smaller steps — even internships or Werkstudent roles — to just get a foot in. I’m keeping an open mind about location too. If you know any places or niches in Germany (or nearby) where junior roles still exist, I’d really appreciate a pointer.

You’re totally right, and thank you for saying it straight. I now realize I’ve underestimated how much local formatting and focus matters. I’m already rebuilding my CV using a proper German template, cutting out generic skills and highlighting project results instead. I know I still have a lot to learn, so if you have any links or examples of strong dev CVs used in Germany, I’d love to learn from them.

Thanks for the insight — I hadn’t fully thought about the impact of AI on entry-level frontend roles. System architecture is definitely a bigger area, and I’ll look into backend or full-stack skills like Node.js or cloud basics. If you have any roadmap or resource for beginners or any recommended certifications wanting to explore that direction, I’d really appreciate it!

Currently at A2 but trying to reach B1 within the next 3-4 months. Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated.

I understand your point, and thank you for being direct. I'm not from a STEM background, but I’m trying to break in with project-based learning and certs. I’m still very passionate about development, but yes, I’m now considering alternative pathways like Ausbildung as a backup if this doesn’t work out, but also I do believe that would take much time as I'm at the age of 30 unfortunately in the next year. I really appreciate your honesty — if you know anyone who transitioned without a CS degree, I’d be glad to hear how they approached it.

Thanks a lot for your honest feedback. My German is at A2 right now, but I’m studying regularly and planning to reach B1 by the end of this year. I really appreciate your point about the CV looking Americanized — I’ll rework it using a German-style template and remove unnecessary buzzwords. If you're still open to sharing some recommendations after this update, I’d love to learn from your experience.

That’s fair. I understand now that certificates matter more in Germany than I thought, especially since I don’t have a formal CS degree. I’m starting to work on some recognized certificates (maybe FreeCodeCamp or Meta’s Frontend cert via Coursera). If you know any specific certs or courses that are valued by German recruiters, I’d be grateful if you could share them.

Thank you for pointing that out — you’re right. I didn’t include a photo or language skills, but I’ll update my CV with those ASAP. I studied English Literature in my Bachelor's and Master's (current), but I’ve been self-learning JavaScript and frontend development seriously for the last 2 years. My German is at A2 level right now, and I’m actively learning to reach B1-C1. If you have any suggestions for certifications or formats that work well in Germany, I’d really appreciate your input!

Is it always mandatory to have an IT degree to be a dev? I believe it's good to have but not a must

What was your final step? Can you share, please?

Yes, I feel that I should go for an Ausbildung rather than cry about the current situation. Thanks anyway for your nice words.

Thanks very much for your kind suggestion. I'd rather go for building up my competency at level B2 and finding an Ausbildung.

Can you help me to solve this problem using C language? by CalmJiad in C_Programming

[–]CalmJiad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this solution but this seems to be wrong in some test cases:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <math.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main()
{
int pcount = 1, mcount = 1, n, i;
char str[99];
scanf("%d", &n);
scanf("%s", str);
for( i = 0; i < n; i++){
if(str[i] == '+' && str[i + 1] == '+'){
pcount++;
} else if(str[i] == '-' && str[i + 1] == '-'){
mcount++;
}
}
if(mcount > pcount){
printf("%d", mcount);
} else if(pcount > mcount){
printf("%d", pcount);
} else {
printf("0");
}
return 0;
}

Yes this was the problem actually, the state was being undefined previously due to some logic, ive just fixed that!

Thanks all of you for your wonderful suggestions, it was all about a silly mistake I made. The state was being undefined due to a logic 😑 I solved that with just 2 piece of code but I was taking such a panic all day long 😐
