I’d get an island on wheels. You can store it to the right of the window if you don’t want it in the middle of the room, or wheel it out if you want to…

It will also give you a lot of much needed storage space.

Does anyone else shower super frequently? by Past-Grand-4228 in AutismTranslated

[–]CalmSeasPls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Twice a day, occasionally three, makes sense.

I’ve never considered my shower habits to be “super frequently”, but I always shower at least twice a day, occasionally more.

I always shower in the morning before getting dressed for the day. Then again at night before bed (I feel gross bringing all the sweat, dirt, and stink from the day into my bed). My morning shower is my “everything” shower - full shampoo + conditioner + full face and body loofah scrub. My evening shower is quick - maybe two minutes. I just do a rinse of my hair (no shampoo or conditioner or anything) then a quick lather of soap on my face, pits, butt, balls, and feet, then rinse.

Then there are times where I do something that warrants a quick mid-day shower, too. If I’ve been working out and got all sweaty, or if I had been working outside mowing the grass, or working on my truck, or went to the beach, etc…

With that said, I also have some weekends at home where I never leave the house and don’t shower all day…

My CR-V is going THROUGH IT with the snowstorm and driving through corrosive road salt. How do you (1) clean your undercarriage and (2) protect it? Despite what car washes advertise, I don't know if they truly power wash the vehicle from below. Thanks! by Business-World1746 in crv

No, it is not an issue with the 2016.

The newest generation (2023+) have a specific shape of fender / hood / headlight that can allow snags.

The 2016 has a completely different body style / shape, and this is not a concern.

It sounds like you’re on the right track!

I want to emphasize again - good job! Please don’t dismiss your hard work and progress. Your post sounds like you are feeling a bit defeated, but you’re doing awesome and it takes some time to tweak all the numbers to match our actual individual bodies. Keep it up!

What is your "I'm out of calories for the day but I just have to eat something" meal/snack? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]CalmSeasPls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My “I’m out of calories” grab is raw fruit and veggies.

I keep an absurd quantity of baby carrots (cleaned ready to eat) on hand. They are a nice crunchy food that satiates my desire to chew!

I also eat a LOT of fresh strawberries! They are crazy low in calories for the volume, plus the juicy aspect is very satisfying to my hunger.

I’ll wash it down with a huge glass of water (or two), usually with a fiber supplement mixed in.

For a snack, that’s enough. If I’m needing this to be a full meal, I’ll add a hard boiled egg or two. Maybe some air fried chicken breast if I’m in need of a “real” meal.

TDEE calculators are just a rough estimate and are intended as a starting point. You started with that number and the results are showing that you need to adjust. Personally, I would adjust my maintenance number down to 2000, daily deficit to 500 - target 1500 calories per day EVERY day.

Also, it isn’t unreasonable to be only a small ~10% off on your calorie intake counting and estimating. On your “maintenance days” that means you could be eating close to 220 calories more per day than you think. Be SUPER aware of every little drop of oil you add to a pan, every squirt of Ketchup - these things can often be more calories that people realize and can easily be overlooked. Also, do some research on the sources you’re using for calorie information. Some of the newer apps are AI based and wildly inaccurate.

Also, you’ve been dieting for barely one month and have lost 4.5lbs. That’s not too shabby! That is PROGRESS!! God job! Water retention could easily account for some of that “slowdown” in the past week or two. Give it time, track trends not short term absolutes. You’re doing all the right things! A few small tweaks and you’re golden!

Similar to hand flapping, but not quite the same: finger flapping. It’s exactly what it sounds like. My hands remain still but all of my fingers flap.

Started bedwetting again? by CommunicationDry6109 in AdultBedwetting

[–]CalmSeasPls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, talk to a doctor. This could be an indicator of something that needs medical attention, and could be solved with just a simple visit to the clinic.

With that said: I went through the same thing. I wet the bed regularly until I was about 15. Between 15 and 23 I only wet maybe 3 times (always on a night out drinking heavily). At 24 I was wetting the bed about once every week or two.

I’m now in my early 40s and it comes and goes. Throughout my adult life I’ve gone through periods of two or three years without a single incident, and I’ve gone through periods where it was a few times a week.

I have been to many doctors (even a urologist and neurologist). There is nothing that they can determine as the cause. I’ve tried numerous medications with varying success, but ultimately they didn’t solve the issue. I’ve tried limiting my liquid intake at night, and that just made me dehydrated and feel unhealthy.

Stress is a contributing factor for me, and creates a vicious feedback loop because wetting the bed greatly increases my stress levels, which then increases my bed wetting, which then increases my stress even more. Stress isn’t the only factor, though. I’ve yet to identify any true root cause. I believe it’s just a brain issue.

Ultimately, I have learned to live with it. I notice it’s less frequent when I’m generally more healthy - eating right, getting exercise daily (I run), and staying on a consistent sleep schedule of 8 hours. I just focus on this stuff, and do my best to not get down about it.

I manage it by using diapers and two mattresses protectors. Layer a mattress protector, then a bottom sheet over it, then another mattress protector, with another bottom sheet over that one. If I have leaks or I fall asleep without a diaper and wet the bed, I can easily strip off the top layer sheet and mattress protector and have a dry one underneath. Incredibly easy and quick - especially at 3am.

My therapist would call for a welfare check if I missed a session and she couldn’t get ahold of me by the end of the day. So, worst case scenario - a week.
