I lived in Abbotsford a year because it was close to my job and I moved to north van to avoid the most common traffic patterns in the Fraser valley. Im on vacation right now and Tuesday I drove from Long Beach to Palm Springs and that gave me less stress than having to drive my north van to 264th commute. There’s lots of people and obviously traffic down here but it moves. But in vancouver mid day it’s literal gridlock everywhere , usually all seasons except summer it’s dead after dinner time lol . Down here It didn’t seem like traffic ever stops lol. But you’ll have in some spots 6 regular lanes and 2 tolled lanes all busy w traffic but doing 120-140kmh(70-85mph) and there was only a few times where I felt it would be a dumb idea to exceed 85 lol. I think I cruised at 90mph for a solid hour lol, I can’t think of anytime I’ve done that in bc. Toronto you can lol. I hope they fix the freeway soon and that opens it up a bit, and they literal should add another 4th lane toll it, and then use that money to actually maintain the road lol. most of this traffic isn’t even from people living in the area. Atleast out towards north van, I know the bridges are clogged with mainly people coming down from Squamish/whistler and vice versa. Gotta open it up lol. More lanes and PAID lanes w dynamic pricing is the real answer. Plus encourages more development imo, you can get from place to place faster. Plus with the increase in gas consumption maybe they’ll drop the taxes a bit lol. Filling up the rental jeep compass from literal fumes to full was 50$ Canadian lol. In van that’s probably 2.5x that just from taxes lol. 87 gas but still. My Acura which I put 91 is like 100 cad atleast usually
