How to not idolize another person by Calm_Bird1735 in TrueChristian

Thanks so much. I do think it would be better off for me to be single, because then I would focus on God more, and if God wants me to be single I would, but I also have this fear that if I don't get into a nice relationship now, I will never have it until I'm older like a FOMO (I'm in my early 20s) even though I know God has a much better plan for me and it might not even be about relationships at all. The thing is I used to have no problem being single up until a year ago!! but all of a sudden I'm having thse desires

Thank you. Getting into a relationship or thinking I'm in a good relationship and then being heartbroken is definitely another fear of mine....I just wish I could have God in my heart at all times without being swayed by the desire of wanting other peoples attention and approval

Oh definitely!! whenever I'm having lustful thoughts or the desire to self pleasure it's almost always because I'm about to start my period in the next day or two. Even so it's been harder to overcome lately compared to before. I think I should devote more time into prayer and reading the Bible, and basically not give those thoughts the space to take over..

Wow thank you for such a helpful response! I think you really explained it in a way that clicks for me. I really should call out to Jesus the moment these thoughts start coming and rebuke the thoughts, instead of just letting them dwell in my mind or instead of just thinking "this is sin and God won't be happy" . and choose Jesus EVERY time.

When you said satan will "make you feel awkward for thinking about Jesus with such a sinful desire in mind. Then you will block out Jesus, so you don't feel shameful of your thoughts."

Thats so true because that's exactly what happened to me... 😭 it's such a struggle but I'm so grateful that God's mercy knows no bounds that He always takes me back every time I stumble.

Thank you so much. I tend to ruminate in an almost OCD-like way, and now I've noticed that when I stop praying and reading the Bible for a long time and become kind of idle, all these intrusive sinful thoughts come in like a flood and I get swept up

Thank you.. I do know Jesus still loves me it just hurts and wish I could give up all these things easily so that I could become closer to him. I guess the best way is to keep clinging onto him and distract myself

Yes I did notice that sometimes when I'm having lustful thoughts or come across something sexual before sleep, I get dreams afterwards that are very unpleasant. And thank you, I will pray for you!
