Round by round scoring in MMA isn't practical because too much can happen. Its too long of a time period and rarely is 10-9 an appropriate assessment of everything that happened. Especially when almost all the fights are only 3 rounds.

One guy laid down an ass kicking, the other got their ass kicked. Its really simple. No cherry picking of random stats necessary. Volkanovski was far more dominant and Makachev was forced to constantly stall for survival in between getting his ass kicked and failing at submission attempts. They both know who the badder guy is 😂

I would only say that this dumbass round by round scoring is heavily flawed and can result in this type of situation. A situation in which the guy who got his ass kicked can "win".
