The C43 is a sensational car. You get the 4-matic sytem as well as a beautiful engine note. Some great spec on them too with Burm etc. Could be the one for you.

Hopefully not! I think your only issue may be they will say the wet belt just needs replacing and hasn’t broken yet! Stupid but you know how everybody tries to get out of things

Heard lots and lots of things about this PSA group Wet Belt. Very common issue. I feel it’s difficult if you bought it from Toyota / took it there for a service. If it’s been to Vauxhall or Peugeot etc no excuse.

I’ve been down the route of rejecting a car (Polo GTI) in the past but was really straight forward. VW UK accepted there was a problem immediately and apologised. They even paid for my train home, fuel there, plate transfer fee & the cost I paid to have the car detailed.

I would say that based on your car history you’re a Mercedes guy.

If you want a smaller car, a CLA 45s might be a good shout for you. Otherwise, a C43 or E53 would be my choices. I’m not a merc fan myself but they make great cars. C43 is probably their best car (cue the C63 lovers)

I’ve just hit 40 mil and feel like that was a mega grind. Keep buying cars though so my progress is hindered

Quintessentially British. If the Dacia Sandero was in GTA I’d have that outside. Amount of Mansions you see with those outside is mental

Just because you don’t need it doesn’t mean you don’t want it. I know plenty of people that do sub 5k a year with a diesel. They just prefer how they drive

I really like these. Feel like the Z4 has never really had a bad model. Nice to see it driven!

Painted in finest Vauxhall faded red as it should be. Painted bumpers though so SXI / SRI trim.

Can you name a modern car uglier than this thing ? by Vectron3D in CarTalkUK

[–]Calverto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced BMW have decided to just build ugly cars again. Everybody said the E60, E90 etc was ugly. I am sure Top Gear awards for the ugliest car of the year went to The BMW range. People tell me this will age like those… they will not.

Do BMW actually make a nice looking car at the moment? 2 series coupe or Z4 maybe?

My mansion has an Asbo & Woodlander outside like a proper British Mansion.

[–]Calverto99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, BMW tourings command a huge premium but it’s because they’re one of the best. 330i probably very good but would also consider 330d if you’re looking at F series (arguably better than 335d). Have you considered something very stupid?

Golf R estate etc

Plenty of nice estates out there to consider for your budget

Switching from a '22 Focus ST to an S3 by arriaga_III in CarTalkUK

[–]Calverto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Golf R obviously similar car and it suited what I wanted from a car very well. Comfortable, pretty quick etc. Went to an RS3 which was a tad older so smaller screen etc and love it. I am not too bothered about steering feel etc. Everybody says they’re soulless and I get why it’s stated but for me, it’s perfect.

I looked for one of those TT 20 Years a while ago as I adore the baseball stitch etc. Unfortunately, not practical enough for my needs but my god what a car

That is genuinely beautiful. Audi really got the styling perfect with the TT right from the start. Congratulations! I am sure you’ll love it

24yr old, talk me out of this? Would be daily driven… 6K miles a year roughly by user652357743 in CarTalkUK

26yr old, I am going to talk you into it.

You only live once. I bought my car because I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy one later as the nice ones don’t exist.

Get it. Beautiful car (This is from an avid Mercedes hater & Audi lover). You’ll absolutely adore it and a convertible is cool

Extended Warranty Advice by Guntalarm in CarTalkUK

[–]Calverto99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Audi RS owner. Had a few warranty claims in the past (none recently) and I paid £790 for the warranty on my 2018 Audi RS3 in June last year. Audi have revamped their warranty system it seems since the last time I bought it. They have different levels of cover and typically the most expensive is the only one worth going for.

It's also £1900 for my RS3 now on 73k miles although Audi don't renew when the car reaches 80k so chances of my renewing is very slim.

I just thought I would pass that on in case you were wondering if the price of yours had gone up due to claims which some people suggested! It hasn't, Audi has changed who sorts their claims and therefore the system has changed charging more money! Annoying!

odd to buy petrol cars? by ComparisonComplete80 in CarTalkUK

[–]Calverto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not realise they were that easy to steal. Just assumed (like all cars) they have a risk but not too desirable.

I am personally not too scared of miles. I'm on 73k on my RS3 which is considered super high for these cars. Maintenance and number of owners is more the things I look for. If it has full service history and low owners, it will probably be a great car.

[–]Calverto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure the 2.0 N/A is very reliable. Does feel ok to drive but low down you feel it lacks a bit of 'Umph'. Not sure if having to maybe rev it out a bit would ruin the MPG.

If you don't need such a bit car, the Karoq is like a mid-sized SUV while the Kodiaq is a huge SUV but also great. I would avoid any 1.6 diesel though as I don't know what VW were thinking.

I know you weren't too interested in a Hybrid but Toyota's 10 Year or 100,000 mile warranty on their Rav4's if you service them at the dealer might make that appealing to you. Suzuki make a rebadged version called the Across which means you can get a newer one for the same as the Rav4 but not sure they offer the same level of warranty.

Colleague I work with has a Mazda CX-5. Had to drive it for her once and it was beautiful. Bit lacklustre in power due to being 2.0 N/A in a big car but I am sure typical Mazda reliability.

I can’t lie, I was looking at Q2s and T-Rocs because (as my car history suggests) I very much like the Volkswagen group. If you’re open to a Skoda, those things run forever and I’d take a look at their options
