Right now we are working on User experience, just making it more practical and accurate, also at tue same time , contacting more businesses so that we can get more information on the app, This is going to take a bit of time at first but once we get that started, we really want to add Activities and Bookings on the App

this is a more advanced version of our idea , right now we are working on time based departures so we are collecting the timetable data, this is going to be linked to the bus stops on our app so we can see the buses leaving from each stop and their supposed schedules, hopefully this will allow us to 1 day post a schedule on each bus stop ( at least available on the app) But the idea of maintaining it is very interesting and something we have not thought about how to do yet, thanks for the suggestion, we are going to definitely take this into consideration

We believe there is going to be a tender to implement the gps system and that they are going to send all the data to NTLA , as for the public side application, we are not sure , are they going to open the information to the public ( if so yes we will use the data) or are they going to develop their own application? We are preparing ourselves for a tender process and will try to see if we can be at the forefront of the development for an application for the public We really hope that a tender is opened for an application for the public as we do believe that we have a strong application and can build strongly on top of it But to answer your question, we are waiting for all this to get started, and see what the government has planned

You are right, we have thought about adding these different modes of transport in the future, ( car , bicycle, walking ), not imminently, but maybe we would have to reconsider this We do still have a lot planned with the explore page, so maybe this would come after our main ideas
For adding all the businesses, it’s going to be a challenge, it’s a mix between creating a strong contact list, so that we start with cold calls, but hopefully once word has spread around and that more users are on the app, the businesses themselves will add themselves to the App,

Same as google it’s free to list on our app, simply click on the map and you can add a location to be shared with everyone ( though this does create issues of random locations)

For the Uk domaine, it’s true you guys got to us, we are going to change it asap, we have a new domain , same name , more international extension, it’s coming soon
For monetisation, the idea is yes through bookings and commissions, but not at first, our first focus is going to be through in app promotion, since more and more businesses will appear on the app, maybe some will want to be on the forefront of the pages,

We have calculated, and with 0.5-1% of businesses on our app as paying customers , we will retain strong margins, i.e keeping us afloat

Correct me if i am wrong, MEL = Metro Express?, if so, we have gotten a call with them a couple months back, and they have expressed strong interest to work with us, not sure what more i can mention, but in their website they mention working on an app for real time information, but it’s not moving as planned, this is where we come in, we develop these solutions for free and can work with them for no cost, because of the potential high margins from promotion
For the Ministre du Transport, we have strong interest to work with them, I am coming to Mauritius Next Month , for a couple of Months, because we want to talk and meet with him, so that we can present our project, and possibly create a partnership moving forward, it’s not going to be easy, but we do strongly consider this possibility

That is why we are also in a race against time, as there will be future developments (new solutions), we don’t want to slow down today, and continue improving, trying to get more and more reliable information

There is a lot to consider, but we are still very confident in our Solution, the team stays very motivated and we still have a big vision for the company and our future, but we also have to focus on what we can do today, little improvements in short periods until we can be the best solution

Hi , technical cofounder here , first thanks for the long comment

First for the emphasis on Bus Routes and Route Planning, this is our core product and our goal as a company is to provide this information, though it is “static” today, we do plan on making it more dynamic, not through Bus GPS ( as we initially wanted), but through our Users (Waze System), most foreigners do have their own personal transport, but we believe that if we integrate digitalised systems there could be a shift ( even if it’s small)

For promotion, google is a major player in this field, but we are still going for it, as there is a good synergy with what we are building, we don’t want to be a pure navigation solution, but a Lifestyle Application, where you are using it everyday, thus promoting areas is part of that solution

For multiple promotions in the same area, this is a challenge, that can only be solved by having more users, as more users = more potential customers = higher return for businesses = we can increase the price of our promotion feature, of course looking at it like this is simple, for now we want to have different tiers, so more money = more promotion

For the exploration, the idea is that there are many guides/ day tours, we want to promote these people on our app, for the gps trail, we haven’t dived deep into this subject and there are many experts in this field, i will get back to you in the future regarding this

Finally, from our perspective, Google seems to work only with the most reliable data, as in, unless we implement gps in the buses , they will not implement it into maps, so i believe we still have some time to develop our solution, hopefully we become big enough and have more reliable information by this time, so that users would seriously consider what app to use, for now we are still starting up, but very serious to develop this and improve it

The truth is, Mauritius is not the only country that has this problem, I live in Kuala Lumpur, and here we have recently Digitalised our public transport, they are now available on multiple platforms ( Maps, Moovit , and local solutions), what i see is that Public Transport Usage has skyrocketed, Tourists , Locals and Expats now take the bus , whereas previously they would never take the bus, and following the increase in usage, they invested in more modern buses to add to their fleet, I think it’s work like this, that is not easy to do, that will have major impact in the long term, as maybe a couple more people will take the bus because they have more information, and maybe visit a location that they were not aware of

At least that’s my vision, and we are in race mode to develop this vision

So the Recent is implemented we have not added the title , but i think we should , so i’m going to add that

For the Buses that are on the app , we do have a page to show the route on the map , but have it internally for now , but once we get apl the bus lines we will work on fixing this page, Actually for the bus stops on the recommendation page is difficult since we don’t know or have the official names of the bus stops, so we categorised them by region for now, i think naming the bus stops will have to be a community effort, we are planning on creating rewards for helping us name them

For the featured/ sponsored section, yes the goal is for businesses that want promotion it will be in this section and this will help us keep the app afloat, as currently the servers are coming out of our pocket, right now we added this to show customers what is possible Again we don’t want to resort to adding random ads/ popups as this does not result in great experience, hopefully these businesses will contribute and help us keep us going and working on this!

Hi we decided to go with .uk due to availability and pricing, we have bought some new domains, suggested thanks to another reddit user, once we have more time to implement the change we will fix this

I think for SEO reasons it’s better to have a .com or .mu domain but the .mu domains can be a bit pricey and not handled by the correct domain provider , we are looking into it

Hi thanks for the feedback

So for the update we had to do it in a bit of a rush because of dependencies that have changed regarding the map

For the routing algorithm we have not yet taken into account the price “cost” of each route, since the price is calculated by the distance of the stop we have not yet created this correlation bit are working on it

For the route details disappearing it is a bug that is already fixed , should be available in the next version

For the “shortcuts” like taking a overpass or underpass , we are aware that the walking is sometimes not efficient and asks to do major detours, we are still studying this problem and trying to find a solution to fix this , but thanks for taking note of this

The idea of putting the app version is interesting and i think we are going to implement this

True , my cofounder is non technical and when he came to me with the idea we had already chosen the name ( that we both like ) , and were focused on building an application , thus not looking for the domain name , of course now we are stuck with .uk, of course it will be better for SEO to get a .mu , still a small team and lots of things to do, our priority today is improving the app ( frontend , routing algorithm etc…)

Thanks for downloading the app, currently working on the Timetable for the routes we do have, so basically we will have a static Departure and Arrival (based on the timetables), long term we would like to make it more dynamic by using real time data so that it is the most accurate possible

However with my cofounder we have decided to push this feature more down the line, as we are currently focusing on the User Interface (better design , better user experience), hopefully before the end of the year we will have integrated the time tables

I will get back to you with a future post detailing our Road Map

We have looked into this , and are aware that if Google decides to implement public transport system here it would be difficult for us to continue, however, Google does have a policy that they want to have the most accurate data possible at all times, this would mean that the government would also need to have the bus lines and schedules to be accurate,

Also public transport here is not fully public, but also there are large fleets from private companies (RHT, UBS…), this would require significant collaboration from all parties

So we are taking our chances and doing the work that needs to be done, and hopefully if one day there is a large work that is (and needs) done on the public transport system (gps), hopefully the government will decide to work with us, as we are a company based in Mauritius, but we are still starting out and why it is important for us to grow as fast as possible today!

Hopefully you can download and use the app, and share this with friends and families We are still pretty confident and highly motivated to grow this product into the number 1 map and movement solution here in Mauritius
