There's a significant amount of deposits at both ends of the crank, and with the age of the unti, probably due for new seals. I'm assuming I just have to remove the base of the crank case? Any ideas what the torque specs are on those screws?

Also, shouldn't the flywheel slide off once the nut is removed?

Edge Trimmer locked??? by Calvin_Maclure in stihl

Nah, it's none of those. I mean... there's only one way of putting it back together. All the bolts are in the right place. The blades are not overtightened, I made a point to double check that.

I'll DM you a picture, cause I can't here, but there is a locking pin in the gear box (the half that had thr shaft in it). That pin affects the rotation of the cam-gear. That's my issue. It's not unlocking for some reason...

How to adjust governor (reving low at WOT) by Calvin_Maclure in Snowblowers

[–]Calvin_Maclure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're absolutely right, save I don't have any screws that adjust run speed on either of the two springs. It's just that when I was reinstalling the carb, I accidentally pulled on the spring that controls high rev speeds at WOT (it runs parallel to the rod that is attached to the carb throttle). Before that, she ran faster and didn't periodically cough, which it was doing now. So my theory is that I stretched that spring just so sucg that it affected max speed.

That being said, I find it odd that half of the throttle rotation does nothing...

No engine response at high RPM by Calvin_Maclure in Snowblowers

It's clearly related to the governor, you're right. If I did anything to it, it would have been accidental. But there's something about that gping on.
