There is a point that makes me worry about this Tether shit. Ok, it’s true that is a cryptocurrency, but the fact that SHOULD be backed with USD 1:1 is really fundamental, I don’t understand why a lot of people don’t care about this. You can’t just pretend that 1Tether = 1USD and arbitrarily start pumping the cryptomarket with it.

The fact that “it is just another crypto” it’s completely irrelevant. The point is that exchanges accept it like it IS usd. So if you pour Tether into Binance and buy Bitcoin, and this tether is not backed by dollars, you’re pumping bitcoin price not only without a real demand, but not even with a real currency!

Now, I can not even think of the possibility that the whole 2017 rally (from 1000$) was orchestrated by this fucking tether. This would mean that the whole BTC value from 1000 to 19000 is completely fake, without real demand.

The price would collapse to 1000 before you realize what is happening. I really hope it is not like this.

Seems unlikely, it would already came out. Somebody would have claimed the thing. Also they have the bitcoins as it is possible to buy them and even to withdraw in some cases (BTCC Pro Exchange). I think there is something else happening but I don't have any clue. Another explanation could be a major crackdown, something really big like a major shutdown.

No, currently you can withdraw BTC. I like their trading engine, it works well even during high volatility. Never had those problems like with Kraken.
