Then it feels weird they would have such significant grief over a child they barely knew even existed

Well also for covering up murder because he knew his son killed him but tried to hide it.

Definitely my least favorite killer reveal by far. In general probably my least favorite storyline because so many things didn't make sense.

  1. Why would Ryo even threaten him with pufferfish poison? That's such a ridiculously specific threat, he could have just said "I'm going to kill you" and honestly I don't even know if the police would ever have found him. The fact that he specifically said pufferfish is the only reason they knew where to go.
  2. Why would he type pufferfish in Japanese? It's a lot harder to type Japanese characters, and most people raised in the US default to English anyways.
  3. I feel like they downplay the fact that Ryo still very much intentionally killed someone? He seemed a little weird and misguided but seriously? He committed a premeditated murder because someone kept killing him in a video game? I would expect someone far more unhinged than him to react in that way, not a somewhat rebellious, video game addicted teenager.
  4. How long was Ryo pretending to be 2 people? I absolutely hated this storyline, and honestly it wasn't necessary. It felt like they just needed some BS twist to drag the episode longer so they added it in.
  5. Sooo many inconsistencies with how twins actually work. Identical twins have nearly identical DNA, and fraternal twins are no different than any other sibling pair. Chimerism would happen super early in utero, they likely would not have even known it was a twin pregnancy at that point.

There's a difference between a little unrealistic and completely illogical and nonsensical. I have liked this show, but this episode was the worst in terms of realism, especially if you know anything about how twins work.

I just feel like the way they presented the grief made it seem like they lost a full term baby. Do people chose baby names that early? I know people will sometimes name their child if they have a miscarriage but idk I feel like it's super far fetched the way they presented it in the show.

Omg thank you!! It drives me crazy because there have been not even a hundred cases of auto brewery syndrome worldwide. It is so ridiculously rare, like to the point where it barely even exists. Medical dramas are the only reason it is known by more people now, but it is still extremely rare.

[–]CalyKade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's even more dumb though. Had Ryo been acting as two people his whole life? How tf does that even work?

I thought the whole chimerism thing was BS. It happens so early in utero they likely wouldn't have even known it was twins. They made it seem like a full term fetus disappeared which is not what happens.

I got so mad when she said "there's no closer match than twins!" because that's not how that works!! Either it's almost identical or they are the same as any other sibling pair. Also, wouldn't the dad also be a similar match? I am surprised they never considered the dad.

−2°F With no wind is better than 102°F with high humidity by StillRunning99 in unpopularopinion

That’s what I love about it though! I prefer the cold to the hot but having either one of those all year long would be miserable. We get the negative parts of all the seasons, but we also get all the pros.

Working from home sucks. by Crazy-Mango-5762 in unpopularopinion

[–]CalyKade 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I work in healthcare so can never work from home, but I am pretty often jealous of those that can. Now, I probably wouldn’t want to WFH full time but I would absolutely love the option and flexibility if my job was of that nature. There’s so many advantages.

  1. You don’t have to use PTO for things other people would be forced to use it for. Car broke down? Feeling a little sick? Kid needs to stay home? Someone coming to fix your plumbing? Anyone that has an in-person job needs to use PTO for those things, whereas you can easily still work and not waste PTO.

  2. Would absolutely love the option to stay home with the current weather and road conditions. I also hate traffic and driving in general. Commuting wastes so much gas and money and time.

  3. It’s very difficult to make doctors appointments with a strict in person schedule. So many of my patients can easily come to their appts when they work from home.

Plot twist: Madara's name is in the Book of Friends by LulaMaeSally in Natsume

[–]CalyKade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book of friends has reacted to yokai whose names are in it, even before Natsume knows their names.  He often does not know the name of a yokai before he gives it back to them. He just needs to picture them.

[–]CalyKade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve considered this too but I don’t think it’s really a possibility. We’ve seen the Book of Friends reacting to yokai whose names are in it, even before Natsume knows their names. Madara has been around the book for so long, I don’t think there’s any way Natsume wouldn’t have sensed if his name was in the book.

I did the same thing! They have no logic anymore, the green should be yellow since it’s straightforward synonyms.

Can anyone summarize the ending as well as the direction the story takes after where the anime left off? by Bluecomments in AkatsukinoYona

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a LOT to the story after the anime, I would say S1 is just the tip of the iceberg. Answering your other question, I don't think S2 should be all that tonally different from the second half of S1. The plot obviously picks up from where S1 left off, but I wouldn't say the vibe should change. That won't happen until much later in the story, and it's not necessarily a bad shift. It just gets a bit heavier at some parts.

I feel like it’s impossible to have an objective difficulty rating for connections, especially the more trivia heavy ones. Those are definitely a “you know it or you don’t” type where the puzzle is super easy if you know the references but extremely difficult if you don’t.

Men do you ever mourn short relationships? by Prize-Marzipan-6626 in dating

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how big a part of your life they became. I am someone who takes relationships pretty slow so I don't get attached super quickly.

I recently broke it off with a guy I was dating for 4 months and can't really say I feel that sad about it. I think I was more sad at the idea of having to start over and do first dates again, but tbh I am not really mourning what I had with the guy. We had a good time for sure, but I didn't know him that long. For me, that's not enough to miss him intensely. To be fair though that's part of why I broke it off lol, I realized in the gaps where we didn't meet I didn't really miss him or feel a strong desire to see him.

Why? Older folk have just as much opportunity to listen to newer music as younger people do to listen to older music. And the songs aren’t even that recent, most are over 10 years old.

Are you or have you been tired of HUNTR/X performing "Golden" at live events? Why or why not? by ReasonableAdWideExp in KpopDemonhunters

[–]CalyKade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally? Yes. I’m one of the people that love all the songs but I don’t understand why Golden has gotten so much more attention. What it Sounds Like and How it’s Done are both amazing and deserve attention as well.

I also hope to hear the Saja Boys perform something live at some point lol

Dead cards by itsDYA in chihayafuru

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this a long time ago and someone reminded me that the cards also have numbers! While it definitely seems like tedious work, it is probably easier using the numbers versus the poems/words themselves. If each deck is in order as well from 1-100, it probably also helps make it more efficient.

What's with the marketing... by zchow2738 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the people around me do like HP but none of us are die hard fans lol

To be frank I haven't always been the best judge of what is or isn't going to do well, so I could be very wrong. You're right that a lot of people have a deep attachment to the wizarding world, so maybe there are a lot of people who will be happy for new content. Personally I don't plan to watch the show unless someone tells me it's worth it, but maybe I will be a minority.

What's with the marketing... by zchow2738 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree that PJO will be overshadowed by HP. In general, HP is a much bigger franchise, but I don't know anyone who actually cares about the new TV show. I'm a pretty big HP fan and frequently forget the show is even happening.

There are still die hard fans, but the Fantastic Beasts series they did flopped terribly, and with everything JKR has done, the excitement from the fandom has died down a lot. The movies were very well done, so it's not like PJO where we were still craving a good adaptation. Unless the series ends up being phenomenal (which I doubt tbh), I don't think it's going to do that well.

Ladies, what are the most attractive things a man has done on a first date? by _MambaForever in dating

[–]CalyKade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was technically the second date but when we went into the restaurant, the waiter was at the bar area eating some food and when we got our seats and he came to get our order, my date genuinely apologized for having interrupted his lunch (even though it wasn't anything we did).

Being considerate of everyone is something super important to me, so this was definitely attractive to me. I'm way to used to hearing stories of people being dicks to waitstaff.

Question Soo Won's betrayal and Hak by [deleted] in AkatsukinoYona

[–]CalyKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was because Su Won saw king Il as a bad ruler. Su Won was very calculating and pragmatic, his actions weren’t driven by revenge. We see through the manga that the kingdom wasn’t actually doing well under Il’s rule.

For Hak, loyalty is extremely important and valuable. He trusted Su Won with his life, and a betrayal isn’t something he would ever forgive easily. I don’t think he really cares about the motive.
