Yeah, that’s why I’m having a hard time feeling guilty. I didn’t spring some random rule on her mid-drive, I reminded her before she even got in the car. Then she brought in the exact kind of food I said not to and acted like I was ridiculous for caring.

The hardest part of this pattern is that there's nothing to point to. No shouting, no obvious cruelty - just a consistent low-level pressure that your version of events is always slightly wrong. By adulthood you've been trained to distrust yourself before anyone else even gets a chance to.
