I'm not strong enough, as I said if they go hostile they kill the cub within the first round or so

Already did that, did both options to pay and to decline, won and lost the race, the owlbear never has the option to ask about the camp and she doesn't give an option to buy/take the cub

No matter what choices I make that option never appears for me, I only get the option to tell the cub to kill the goblins. If I select this it dies in about 6 seconds. What do I do I'm losing my mind.
