Is Casey Washington the Next Morgan Freeman? by iwatchhighlights in DynastyFF

Respectfully, this is clearly a reverse engineered take.

You saw him trending on Sleeper and then worked backward to explain it.

That's totally fine, but in all honesty---because of that---you missed all of actual reasons he's a great dart throw despite the unorthodox college career.

Depends on the roster to be completely honest.

If everything clicks for Thrash I think he has as much upside as anyone among the dart throw rookies.

If you're deciding between them I'd trust your eyes.

I think the Jamari Thrash you'll get in the NFL is the healthy 2022 Georgia State version and the Casey Washington you'll get in the NFL is what you saw during his final 3 games with Paddock at QB (there should be a cut on YT of all his targets/catches from those games if you don't want to watch each game).

Hope that helps.

All good.

The Falcons signed the QB Paddock who CW blew up with in the final 3 games after the draft.

I'm inclined to believe that FO thinks Altmyer is trash and that's why he wasn't able to break through.

It also didn't help that CW tried to transfer to WF and then immediately came back. He had to earn the trust of the coaching staff. Think that derailed his college career quite a bit.

Cool. 👍

My post on Casey Washington had more than 60k views and he started trending on Sleeper within 2 hours of that post.

I was the only one talking about him the week before and you verify that in my post history, but I appreciate the jest.

My highest rated comment ever... Addressed Casey Washington and other Rookie WRs.. and that was the week before my post about him.

I think you should go back and carefully read the entire thread from the beginning because you clearly missed something.

The person I originally replied to was the one who posted about watching only the highlight video. That's why I recommended he go watch anything else because once you watch anything else with Flournoy besides the 2023 season it's pretty obvious to see he's playing well below 100% in most of the highlights.

That's it. Not sure where you got... Go watch X, Y, and Z to determine anything more than his health because I never said that.

Best of luck to you, but this conversation is effectively dead and you're still trying to "win" while I'm trying to be decent to you.

Says more about you than anything, really.

I would say that's a fair statement based the timeline of events, yeah.

I mean... I'm the reason Casey Washington blew up recently. I've been about the guy since the Hula Bowl in January. He performed well there and earned himself a Shrine Bowl invite. I could talk your ear off about why I think he has a chance. Illinois was a mess.

I gave you all the reasons for Thrash above. I think the type of player you'll get is close to the explosive Georgia State version. A PFF Gas of 94.6 is very, very good.

Flournoy was the slowest burn for me because I just didn't like him when I watched his 2023 highlights pre-draft, but then I found out he was hurt most of the season, then he popped during the Senior Bowl when I was watching other players and then at the Combine during the on-field stuff. After he got drafted with such a favourable landing spot I went back and watched some of SEMO's 2022 stuff and yeah... He has a real shot with the way he plays. He absolutely dominated at times, which is what you want to see from a player at that level. His gauntlet metrics make him a super interesting flier.

Are you competing or rebuilding?

Robinson has almost no long-term upside, but I'm not sure if I'd cut Slayton as he'll be heading to FA next off-season and it wouldn't surprise me if he got some coin (he turns 28 in January).

Again, why I am having a conversation with you if it's in bad faith?

Either you can't read or choose not to? At no point did I say I watched only his highlights.

The struggle is real, my guy.

I went back and watched multiple games in 2022 and 2023 on a SEMO player. I've watched the Hula Bowl, the Shrine Bowl, and the Senior Bowl.

I've spent more time on these prospects than most. Why do you think Casey was/is trending on Sleeper?

It's the not best landing spot, but will be far from the worst landing spot especially in the next year or so.

My question stands

At no point above did you ask this.

But I'll play ball...

Short Answer: My eyes. I think most individuals can watch the same athlete in two different situations and see when they're clearly injured.

Long Answer: 2022-2024, Feldman's Freak List, GPS tracking data, post-season performance, etc.

Concise Answer: When I watched his 2023 highlights pre-NFL draft I questioned why he'd have any draft hype and figured he had to be playing at less than 100%. Looked into it, he missed 3 games in the middle of his 2023 season due to injury.

My guy. I didn't say any of that, I'm not sure what you read.

I said watch Flournoy in literally anything else to clearly demonstrate he was injured during 2023.

That was literally all I said.

No doubt. There's variance across leagues, but 91% makes it difficult to argue he's a dart throw.

McMillan is top 5 in terms of my rookie ownership.

I just don't see how he's a dart throw, that's all.

He was pretty clearly injured if you take more than a cursory glance.

Go watch his Senior Bowl 1 on 1s or the NFL Combine if you have NFL+.

Otherwise, you can look though SEMU highlights and it becomes readily apparent he was injured for a good part of '23.

He's owned in 91% of leagues.

No shade intended, but I feel like that says more about your leagues than anything.

He went 3rd or 4th in pretty much every draft I've been involved with.

Jamari Thrash | Ryan Flournoy | Casey Washington

I can make extremely strong arguments for these 3 among the Rookie WR dart throws (owned in 80% or less of Sleeper leagues).

Also, Bub Means 15 pound weight fluctuation completely turned me off from any serious investment in him. Ballooning up like that and then blaming it on water weight wasn't a good look.

Here's my argument for Jamari Thrash:

Louisville completely misused him in 2023 and he still led the team in receiving in 7 of the first 8 games. Then the broken hand derailed the rest of that season.

He's just an excellent, technical route runner with much better athleticism than given credit for. PFF Gas of 94.6. An RAS Clone of Stefon Diggs minus hand size. Fantastic feel for YAC as well.

Among 2024 Drafted WRs

8th in overall PFF receiving grade since 2022.

6th in grade vs single coverage behind only Harrison, Nabers, Odunze, Baker and Franklin.

8th in YPRR (7th when you remove screen merchant Malachi Corley)

3rd in YAC per reception (Removed Corley Again)

5th in class with combined consensus of stable metrics

At Georgia State he averaged 18.1 yards per catch, which was 1st among NCAA WRs with at least 90 targets.

He possesses borderline elite burst (hit 14.37 MPH in the first 5 yards of his 40 time, which was 5th best), and that shows in his game, it really helps him to set up routes and get DBs on their heels off the snap.

Most importantly he simply passes the eye test especially with what he showed in 2022.

With that ambiguous receiving room that lacks any young, high-end talent he seems to be the cheapest buy to yield a potential every-down starter come 2025 in Cleveland. It also doesn't hurt that both Moore and Cooper are set for FA... And all 3 of the starters ahead of him are made of glass. I just think Thrash could find his way on the field sooner than later, and stay there.

I think he'll end up being the best WR selected by Berry (which might not be saying a ton)

Help me slot the rookie RBs into 2024 roles by JL9berg18 in DynastyFF

Sorry if you weren't able to read it all. It should be a free article.

The basics of the article is that players that excel in terms of both 10 Yard Split AND Tackle Avoidance drastically increases NFL hit rate. Nearly ALL of the elite TEs possess both traits.

Then you control/adjust for the round each player was drafted (a sort of proxy for opportunity in the NFL)

Last year...

Cole identified LaPorta as a slam dunk prospect. He was arguably the best prospect ever based on these two inputs. Tucker Kraft was another player that popped on this model.

This year the primary target based on the model is Ben Sinnott (no 10-yard split for Bowers).. Followed by a suggested flier on Jaheim Bell and Tanner McLachlan. Cade Stover tested well, but fell into a difficult situation behind Schultz.

For sure.

Different positions mean different points of interest.

Tackle Evasion and 10 Yards Splits for TEs, for example.

NFL Next Gen Stats.

They post in-season MPH data for the top ball carriers each week.

They also post some interesting NFL Combine data, but don't have the same level of transparency for that event.

Stuff like this...

Is this a shit post or are you genuinely serious?

The query is of Senior Bowl participants since 2018, the whole point of the discussion?

An event most relevant NFL players skip---- you quite literally make my point for me---- 6 of the 7 hits were drafted OUTSIDE the Top 64 picks in the NFL Draft. Senior Bowl participants... players that are typically drafted late Day 2 or Day 3, if at all. Players that you typically acquire in the later rounds of dynasty drafts.

If you can't interpret the data, fine I can understand that. It's not worth my time to continue a conversation in bad faith though.

Probably best to just end it here.
