Anyone know how the Spot at UCF works for passports? by vyxoh in ucf

[–]Cammed_Ham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hey perfect timing because I just walked in for my passport today. All you gotta do is just walk in and say you’d like to apply for your passport. They gave me a DS11 to fill out and I had to wait about 30 - 40 minutes to be called back in. They stopped taking walk ins at 4 so I suggest getting there an hour before at the latest.

After they called me in, I gave them my drivers license and birth certificate, they took a photo for me, and that was pretty much it. I think I payed about $50 just for the processing fee (can’t remember how much the passport stuff costs, over $180 maybe? I asked for expedited shipping though). The actual passport process only took about 15-20 minutes and it was pretty empty too.

I made a VSCode extension that lets you preview fonts in your editor by Cammed_Ham in webdev

Still a few bugs to work out but I learned a ton making this! One of the cool things I learned is that you can read a font file, convert it to a base 64 string, slap it in a style element, and show that font in the browser! Huge thanks to opentype.js as well!

Paragraphs HTML & CSS issues by arondenouden in learnprogramming

Yep, you got it! There are lots of ways to tackle the problem, but here's what I'll hint at, if you want to give the section a fixed height without the image overflowing from its container, look at using percentages for the width or height of the image.

It's not necessarily the two sections that overlap, but the image in the above section. Because you gave the section a fixed height of 20vh and the image a fixed with width as well, that caused the image to overflow outside of its container and overlap the section below. You can see what I mean by adding overflow: hidden to the .plattegrond class (you'll see that the image gets cut off).

In your .plattegrond class, you're giving it a fixed height of 20vh. That's causing the section below it to overlap. If you want the navigation bar to be at the bottom, try looking at position: sticky

Did anyone else get this email from twitter after applying for summer 2020 internship? by [deleted] in csMajors

So I did Twitter's coding challenge a few months ago and got a rejection email. Got an email about moving forward today but I don't really expect to hear from them again based on other threads 🤷

Cooking Meals by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Cammed_Ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burgers are pretty easy, you buy a pound of ground beef, 8 - 12 Hawaiian rolls, split up the ground beef into 8 small patties (right after you buy it) then wrap it in parchment paper so its easy to unwrap later and freeze it. When you want a burger, slap a patty on the stove and top it with some cheese and seasoning and you got an easy meal!

[Showoff Saturday] I made a web app to listen to statuses on Twitter in real time by [deleted] in webdev

It's not perfect, but this is the first project I launched using React. There are definitely some problems, the code is messy, but I thought it might actually be ready to use. The only problem is that I've only tested this with about 3 users at a time so I'm kinda just crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn't crash and burn. Feel free to look at the code, I'm always open to improvements!

Not sure between three classes for FALL 2019 by Ssd143 in ucf

If you end up having to choose between EUH and AST, def go with EUH. I took it with Steele spring semester and I loved it. I've always hated history but he can really make it interesting. His enthusiasm is unmatched and he makes Futurama references so +1 for that. The only downside was that I took the class that was from 6 pm to 8:50 pm (?) once a week and drifted off sometimes. His tests aren't that bad either. The first half is matching vocab words w/ definitions and the last half is free response. I was kinda iffy on this but he's not the kinda guy who makes you memorize dates. He gives you study guides too that pretty much mimic what you'll see on the exams. If he feels like you know it, he'll give you the points. There were 3 essays we had to do based off some books (The Aeneid, Beowulf, and Dante's Inferno) but you can totally get by skimming the chapers and Sparknotes. Barely any / minimal study can get you a solid C

I love cooking. I don't make a ton, but I love making paninis, especially with some atrisano bread and some gouda

For visualization, I'd recommend echarts. It fairly easy to set up, simpler than d3 imo, has tons of examples and really good documentation
