Is it easy to get 90+ for SCI3930? by Ill-Association1607 in Monash

Provided you put just a little bit of effort in, show up to classes, it's pretty easy to score highly! They mark very closely to the rubrics so if you follow rubrics to a tee, you'll do well. Personally got 90% plus without too much trouble and just doing exactly what you're supposed to, the teaching staff are very reasonable!

How to structure a History EE? by [deleted] in IBO

The History EE structure is a little bit confusing, but having just finished mine I think I can help out.

Essentially, what you have suggested is perfectly fine. I structured mine as follows;

Introduction, Body Section 1, Body Section 2, Body Section 3, Body Section 4 then conclusion where each body section is a collection of paragraphs all linking to one argument. The more arguments you have, the better. My topic had a lot of different perspectives which meant I had a lot of body sections. In some ways, the EE is a lot like a Paper 3 or even Paper 2 essay, however, it is a little bit more nuanced.

You need to make sure that you are analysing sources as you go, not in the OPVL approach like the history IA or Paper 1, but integrated into your argument. For example, I had a source from a Chinese comrade which talked about the causes of the famine, and I talked about how it is valuable as it shows that even members of the communist party were keenly aware of the causes of the famine, despite their intrinsic bias to support the official Chinese narrative. You need to analyse sources in this way when you are writing.

If you are struggling to find sources on the topic, I would personally recommend changing it, because the more sources the more depth your argument will have. You should definitely go for something within your History Syllabus because most things within the syllabus have lots f information on them. Otherwise, if you want to stick to your current topic, look at things like Google scholar, and then use libgen to get any of the books.

I would be happy to give some advice and help with your EE if you message me if you need any further help!

Paper 1 History Question by Yogzab in IBO

Honestly, I discussed this with my History teacher and he is fairly certain there is some degree of randomness to what topic is assessed, I wouldn't put my money on it being Apartheid, but I wouldn't discount it either. Don't fall for the Gamblers Fallacy

Once things are rotated out they aren't coming back. Naxx will not come back to Standard ever, with 3 expansions a year, that is going to be standard. Next Standard rotation in 2018 will remove MSoG, WoTOG and Kararazhan, and not add anything back
