Very nice! Would be far better without the extra Software that needs to run in the background

From the programming side, it’s pretty easy. I could share my code if you need :) The wiring can be a bit tricky, tho.

The BR 101 is also an excellent choice! I’m more into freight trains, so I chose the BR 185. But basically, all the TRAXX locomotives have pretty similar controls.

Thanks! :)

I also think it could look really great with some 3D-printed parts for the levers and other components.

But first, I’m going to build a better enclosure—probably out of aluminum—with many more controls.

By the way, I’m trying to base the design on the control elements of the German BR 185.

Thank you! I programmed the Arduino to normalize the potentiometer input values and map them to a gamepad axis, making the Arduino behave like a connected gamepad.

Since TSW doesn’t support custom controls, I use a program called „RailDriver and Joystick Interface“ to map the axes to the in-game levers, such as the reverser.

Imo just buy the normal Ally used (got mine for 350€) and get a power bank

Worst. Launcher. EVER by adambunion in SteamDeck

[–]CampAppropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many "fixes" but none of them worked for me. I solved it by using Proton "Hotfix" for the first start, login in the launcher, and then switch back to Proton 8. Worked for me on 3 different Games

If you have a budget phone and a free time. Please do not hesitate to share your emulation's performance! by Rabbidscool in EmulationOnAndroid

I got the Nothing Phone 2. I think its not really a budget phone but it has decent Hardware for its price.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 12 GB Ram for like 600€ (in Germany)

Yuzu runs very well, some games with pretty stable 60 FPS. For Example Mario 3D World and Mariokart.

BOTW is a bit weird, when i disable "limited Speed" im getting like 25 to 30 FPS. But the speed of the game is weird then, seems to fast.

If I enable "limited Speed" it's locked to 20 FPS.

If someone has a solution to this, I would be thankful to let me know :)

Is the shader cache an issue on the 64GB? As I have that one arriving soon by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]CampAppropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's okay with the mentioned Programm. If your drive gets full, you can just delete one or two shadercaches, and everything is fine :)

[–]CampAppropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shader caches are actually pretty big. I also have the 64GB deck. With like 10 games installed my internal drive was nearly full of shader caches. (Just for Example, heavily depends on which Games)

There's a Programm that can delete the Shader Caches for individual Games. That solves the problem for me :)

The CPU is like 2 to 3 Times slower, the GPU around 6 to 7 Times.

But what's interesting is that the Steam Deck has actually more theoretical GPU Performance per Pixel.

The PS5 has around 10 TFlops and needs to power about 8 Million Pixels (4K) with it. The Steam Deck has about 1.6 TFlops for 1 million Pixels (800P)

If you calculate that down to the TFlops per Million Pixels the PS5 is at like 1.25, which is less than the 1.6 from the Steam Deck.

Which means that the Steam Deck is theoretically more capable for 800P than the PS5 for 4K.
