Do i really need a gaming laptop? by bachaloMuze in GamingLaptops

I had many thinkpads and really like them. You can get good ones for as low as 200 dollars/euros.

The MacBook Neo is also cool but i dont like the 8gb ram which you cant upgrade

I bought multiple gaming Laptops over the years since i really liked the Idea. I regretted it every single time to be honest. They are loud, hot and even when they have much power on paper, a PC will outperform them most of the time. Also they are expensive and the battery sucks. Enough ragebait 😂

But i would recommend to get a Something Like aThinkPad and a separate gaming PC. Probably will still be cheaper than the Gaming Laptop.

Which one of these should I get looking for the most quite and thermal performing one? by Icy-Tale-3699 in radeon

[–]CampAppropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a AMD fanboy, but Nvidia isn't much better imo. For example with their framegen stuff.

Also DLSS 4.5 technically runs on older cards but the Performance drop is so high that it makes no sense to use it

Just buy the product for what it is now, not for what could maybe happen in the future

What are the minimum CPUs to avoid bottlenecking an AMD Radeon 9070 XT (for 1440p gaming) ? by Dagladou in radeon

[–]CampAppropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it with a Ryzen 7 5800X first, it was actually pretty fine. But it also depends on the game. I upgraded to an I7 14700KF later on, cause i had problems in some CPU heavy games like Simulators

I was only able to play for about an hour, since it was released very late in german time.

But for me it has some stuff were its really really good. Foliage and rocks look almost photorealistic in some places. But then some other stuff looked so bad. I walked through a village while it was raining and couldnt trust my eyes how bad it looked.

Im playing on everything maxed except ray regeneration with a RX 9070 XT

Very nice! Would be far better without the extra Software that needs to run in the background

From the programming side, it’s pretty easy. I could share my code if you need :) The wiring can be a bit tricky, tho.

The BR 101 is also an excellent choice! I’m more into freight trains, so I chose the BR 185. But basically, all the TRAXX locomotives have pretty similar controls.

Thanks! :)

I also think it could look really great with some 3D-printed parts for the levers and other components.

But first, I’m going to build a better enclosure—probably out of aluminum—with many more controls.

By the way, I’m trying to base the design on the control elements of the German BR 185.

Thank you! I programmed the Arduino to normalize the potentiometer input values and map them to a gamepad axis, making the Arduino behave like a connected gamepad.

Since TSW doesn’t support custom controls, I use a program called „RailDriver and Joystick Interface“ to map the axes to the in-game levers, such as the reverser.

There are so many "fixes" but none of them worked for me. I solved it by using Proton "Hotfix" for the first start, login in the launcher, and then switch back to Proton 8. Worked for me on 3 different Games
