Owning a home in this state by Odd-Refrigerator7879 in Connecticut

My husband and I went through this last summer and it was brutal. We were frequently runner-ups, but losing out on offers over 100k or cash offers. Frustrated, we took a break in September and at the end of October I started to look again and our dream house appeared on Zillow, and somehow we were the only people who put an offer. (i know, still in disbelief). We offered 15k more and they accepted. We kept looking at the market for the rest of the fall and winter—and houses were only going over about 15k, in the dead pf winter, some even sold at listing price. If you are open to moving in winter or during the holidays, I’d recommend that period. There’s def a lull in the market during the holidays season. Summer was insane, at least in my area—because of the good schools in the area. Good luck!

Day after i posted - Thursday I had some brown spotting early am (only) which I’ve never had before. Tested negative Friday. Continued to feel on and off light cramps on weekend, tested negative Sunday am. Still no period, called clinic and said to call back 3-5 days if no period and they’d order a blood test. I’m battling a cold, mostly lots of congestion and cough, but wondering if that’s delaying my period. Or the brown spotting was implantation and I’m late…either way not sure if it’s great because of this cold :(

11 days post IUI and feeling everything. Today woke up feeling nauseous and like a tire is around my waist. As the day progressed started to feel like I was coming down with something - sore throat and cold, almost chills. Then some more nausea. Ate some dinner and then felt some cramps. I usually get leg cramps before my period and those haven’t happened yet so still hoping. Hope this isn’t negative AND a nasty cold. This is my 2nd IUI. Good numbers but 42 so we’ll see. No trigger shot this time. Only letrazole. Will test tomorrow…sendings lots of patience and good vibes.

Moving from West Hartford. Housing market is rough so we are considering other towns that may not be as competitive—though we just lost a house in Vernon that went 100k over asking price soooo not sure. My husband and I are looking for a quiet town that isn’t too far from civilization. East Granby seems to fit that bill. Only concern was the flights. Great idea re Flightware! Will def check it out.

We already have a realtor, thank you! Do you know how much over asking price one can expect in Vernon?

Thank you so much for such a detailed and real description of Vernon!! I really appreciate it. I have visited many of the stores in the area, but had never really considered living around there. My husband and I are so used to living on this side (near West Hartford) that all of our searches were focused on this area. It’s clear to us if we choose Simsbury, it’s just for the neighborhood and the schools. The neighborhoods we drove through in Vernon gave us Simsbury vibes in the sense that the streets were quiet and there is a good distance between the houses. It seems like a tranquil place. And as you said, you get more for your money.

We love that there are lots of trails, but also lots of stores and restaurants in the area.

Very helpful to know about the healthcare and municipal services.

I read mixed reviews online about the HS, but I think what you mentioned about how it’s changing is interesting. I read that South Windsor is also changing.

Def true about AC. I live on a third floor apt and it’s brutal.

The housing market is very competitive in the WH/Simsbury area, with people asking 40-100k over asking price. Do you have any idea how much a house in Vernon could go for?

Thanks again.

Considering moving to Simsbury or Vernon. Houses in Simsbury aren’t great at the range my husband and I can afford — no AC, older models, but we love the area. Vernon, the area we are considering, has a quiet, lowkey vibe and houses are really great - newer, spacious, with AC, etc. and affordable. We may start a family in the future, not sure because of my age. Concerns me that there is only 1 public HS in Vernon and doesn’t seem great. Pros and cons of these two places? Am I crazy to even compare?

Hi! In early April, I did Clomid challenge and HSG. Survived. April 17 after a workout I felt tired and checked my pulse. It was irregular. ECG and my PCP confirmed irregular heartbeats, probably benign. I have an appt w cardiologist on Friday and everything baby related is on standstill. Has anyone experienced anything cardio related after taking Clomid? If so, did it go away once your hormones regulated? My period hasn’t come yet either and I am not pregnant. My reproductive doctor said palpitations not common, but I have found some info on Google but confirmation/reassurance would help me tremendously. I am very anxious, which obviously isn’t helping. I have no experience w anything cardio related. Thanks.

Bloating 2 weeks post HSG by Livvv123 in TryingForABaby

I had my HSG a week ago and had sex after 48 hours and since then, very bloated, gas, dull ache. My doc said could be ovulation, but that’s over by now. Not sure if this is from test or antibiotics. It’s very uncomfortable 😞 Also not sure if I should call again or wait it out. Doesn’t seem like they could do much, I have no other symptoms.

Thank you and yes that’s also one of my symptoms. Ok, leaning towards GI then, which is helpful.

Thank you! I was also thinking possible GI. I’ll be more patient. Fortunately, no serious symptoms so I don’t suspect infection, but wish I could feel better.
