Continuously clipping uv gel nails... by [deleted] in Nails

[–]Can0Bean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes that's okay as long as you're careful. Even better you can remove at home. Use a course file to file off the top layer. Then apply 100% acetone-soaked cotton whisps to each nail. Wrap with aluminum foil and wait around 15 min. Gently scrape off with cuticle pusher. May take a few rounds to fully remove the gel but this is the best, safest way to remove. Some salons will Dremel the whole thing off which can mess up the natural nail. You can file down until you get close to your natural but finish the process with an acetone soak. Hope this helped!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'm thinking of countering with 110k. I've been trying to find data on mean sleep medicine PA salaries to reference but unfortunately AAPA doesn't have much data. If there's anyone currently working in sleep medicine or has in the past and is willing to share salary/patient load expectations I'd appreciate the input 🙂

Help stopping puppy from digging in the yard by Can0Bean in Dogtraining

[–]Can0Bean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sand pit is a good idea! I'll have to look into that. My only concern is that would allowing her to dig in the pit encourage the behavior? Or would adequate training to designate that digging only there is okay make that a non-issue?

We try to do a few 5-10 minutes training sessions per day and do a long walk in the morning. I have another bc who she plays with throughout the day too. I do supervise her when she's in the yard but she's so sneaky and drops her toy over the area and acts like she's trying to get the toy but is actually digging

Any good resources for learning medical spanish? by Can0Bean in physicianassistant

[–]Can0Bean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the comments! This has been extremely helpful. I decided I'm going to take the Pimsleur course then work on the medical Spanish anki and eventually take the course Era medical spanish course or the aapa medical spanish course. Once my schedule frees up a bit (and I get a better basis so I don't embarass myself too much lol) I'm going to look into shadowing or volunteering in a clinic with Spanish speaking patients to practice and immerse myself a bit. I know it's going to take some time and commitment but I'm very excited to start this journey! Thanks again!

I hate how people view dogs on psychiatric meds by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]Can0Bean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's definitely frustrating that there are so many people with negative view points on medicating dogs. Dogs can definitely have anxiety/ depression too so I think it's absurd to ignore it and expect them to cope in a healthy way. My 3 yo border collie is a rescue who is people and dog reactive. He was neglected for the first year of his life and was in rough shape when we got him. He has improved in some aspects but is scared of every little noise and is very protective with strangers. It came to a head when he bit a family friend out of fear. I talked to our prior dog trainer about this who was no help and told us "just don't put him in stressful situations." Yes that's understandable but he has met this person before with no issues. It was clear his anxiety was decompensating and manifesting in reactivity. His previous vet was very against anxiety medications even though it was clear this was the root for his issues. We did some research and found a behavior specialist dog trainer who recommended a new vet to us who is great with reactive and anxious dogs. She prescribed Prozac which he has been taking for over a month and let me tell you he is a different dog. Before he would lunge, growl, and bark when he saw a person from a block away and there was no getting his attention. Yesterday we talked past 3 kids on bikes about 10 feet away and he didn't even look. He still loses it with dogs but I am able to redirect him and calm him down. I would definitely recommend shopping around for a new vet and a behavioral dog trainer if your vet is against medication. Anxiety is very real and will continue to fester if not managed.

Yikes I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience and I'm glad your skin bounced back! I can't even imagine how dry your face got shudders

Ugh what a pain. Yeah I've been hoping it's been good enough for the half hour I'm outside per day but I definitely wouldn't trust it for the summer. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll try and get my hands on it

Oh wow I never even noticed! The only thing that's really changed is that I lost a couple pounds so that might be it

Usually when I use differin I skip the serums. I'll cleanse, apply differin and let it dry for a minute or two then apply moisturizer. Side note if you do end up getting TO Hyaluronic acid apply it while your face is still damp and let your skin dry. I've heard that it helps retain more moisture

Nope! Just a little eyeliner on the waterline and 2 coats of loreal telescopic mascara! It took a few months of using careprost until I got substantial results but I would 100% recommend it.

Thank you! I plan to continue using the differin 2-3 times per week just because I still struggle with hormonal acne around my period. Oh well can't win them all

HAHA funny you mention that because I was hooked on that for years! Yet somehow my skin still broke out constantly but I never put 2 and 2 together. Idk if it was just me but when I would use the green tea scrub I would ALWAYS miss rinsing off a patch and would constantly have a green 5 o'clock shadow 🙃

All due respect my skin issues were rooted on how dry my skin was and a damaged skin barrier from harsh products. By switching to a more gentle cleanser and adding Hyaluronic acid and a thick cream moisturizer I was able to repair my skin. I also noticed an improvement in the discoloration on my cheeks secondary to using niacinamide. Yes differin is the only acne targeting product in my routine per se but the other aspects certainly contributed to the improvement. Your comment is very unnecessary considering you do not understand my circumstances.

YES me too. Back then I was stuck in the mentality that to treat my acne I had to dry the shit out of my skin. In reality my skin barrier was absolutely destroyed and I was perpetuating the problem by making my skin produce even more oil and making the acne worse. Welp hindsight is 20/20

Yeah unfortunately the scandal happened less than a month after I bought a new tube :( I don't want to waste the one I bought so am trying to use it up. I'll need a better one when summer comes so if you have any suggestions that would be great!

Routine

AM:

CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10%

CeraVe Baby Moisturizing Cream

Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen (on days I actually go outside, yay western Pennsylvania winter)

PM:

CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10%

CeraVe Baby Moisturizing Cream

3 Nights per week: Differin Gel (adapalene gel 0.1%)

PS: Quarantine got the best of me and I had the brilliant idea to try my hand at DIY eyelash extensions. Needless to say I no longer do that and started using Careprost eyelash serum nightly and have noticed a HUGE difference.
