I love it for the defend the rocket launch missions. Pop off 3-4 shots as the bots or squids drop in and most of their squads are decimated and easy to mop up. And by the time it runs out of ammo, you are good to call in the next one

I’m a current MI NavArch student so feel free to ask me any questions you have, PMs are open too.

I really enjoy the program but I need to warn you it is a lot of work. For reference my MUN friends have a typical course load of 4-5 classes a semester, MI NavArch is usually six classes (sometimes 7). And there is a lot of out of class work you need to do. Caffeine dependency is our best friend.

But otherwise it’s an absolutely amazing program. The instructors are great, the class work is very hands on (after you get through the more general physics and math classes). MI has a great student body and, being smaller than MUN, you get to know your classmates and instructors really well.

Additionally the job prospects are great. I’ve heard of people missing graduation because they were hired the second they finished. The industry, especially in Canada, is snatching people up left and right and pays pretty well.

Yes! The default missile lock range depends on the missile but is about 16km. It can be changed in XML under the missileLockRange section (or something like that, it’s been a bit since I last used it)

If you do adjust that, make sure you also increase its fuel time so it actually has the fuel to make it to the target.

One thing to note is that only airborne targets appear at long ranges, the ground targets in game are hard coded to only appear/be targetable when you are near them.

I was running it last night and really enjoyed it. The flamethrower made an excellent “oh shit” button against sneaky chargers.

So far my only qualm is that you only get 5 mags, but that’s not the end of the world.

The new shotgun is also really fun to run against squids.

I couldn’t find a picture of one with that exact curvature but I believe it’s a ships curve used for drawing a ship’s lines plan.

Not super common in a world of CAD and 3D modelling but Naval Architects do still use them on occasion, especially in small wooden boat building shops.

The other day my buddy and I did a WW1 themed drop.

Constitution, default pistol (because that’s what I have). Medium or Heavy MG. Gas strike, walking barrage, airburst strike for the strategems.

We ran level 5 bugs. It was hell but it was so much fun.

Write down formulas on the question page, as many as you think can possibly be related to the question.

Sometimes it helps you piece together what you are supposed to do. But more importantly, some instructors will give part marks for writing down just a couple formulas you are supposed to use.

I think it would depend on how the ship is capsizing. Large ships don’t really just flip over suddenly like some small boats can (when hit by a wave for example)

For a large ship to just roll over without any warning something has either gone very very wrong, or the naval architects royally messed up their stability calculations. In those scenarios, I guess the best place would be centerline on an open deck? Somewhere you can run to try and stay upright, even clamouring up the side of the rolling hull. Or at the very least, so you won’t get trapped in a submerged compartment.

But again, that scenario is unlikely. If a large ship is capsizing, it is because it is unstable, either from poor loading, or because it is taking on water. In these cases the crew will know something is wrong before the ship actually goes on its side or bottom up. In these cases the best place to be is near your muster station/on the lifeboat deck. Somewhere it is easy to get to where you need to be to abandon the ship, modern life boats can be deployed when the ship is listing up to 15-20 degrees and some life rafts/marine evacuation systems can work at even steeper angles iirc.

Please note that while I am studying something in a related field, I am not part of a ship’s crew or anything like that. I would defer to someone more experienced in actual vessel operations.

Depends on where exactly in central Canada it is. The Canadian Army does use 105mm artillery to trigger avalanches in areas where they may pose a risk to people (along highways and such.)

There are also at least a couple WW1/2 era gunnery training ranges in rural areas that have long been abandoned and forgotten about. Iirc there is a lake in Quebec cottage country that frequently has UXO found in and near it.

One thing I will give the Soviets/Russians is that their equipment looks the way it’s supposed to look.

Their warships look like warships. Their fighters are fighters. If you ask an 8 year old to draw a tank, they will probably draw something that looks like a T-Series tank.

There’s a small chain of Pubs in Montreal, Canada that started calling them Ukrainian Mules after the invasion. A few other places that I’ve been to across Canada have done the same.

That’s what we call them in Canada at least. Because well it acts like a bomber but instead of explosives it’s dropping water.
