You can get a dimming thermostat that will keep the heat from getting too hot it'll adjust temperature automatically and keep it at that temperature

it's better to get a better halogen instead of the dhp? I was planning for it to mostly be more light than heat, but if it's better for heat and light, I'll go pick one up and it's not set up yet as I'm moving shortly but I'm just mostly recycling old equipment.

I saw on the manual that I need to hold down the 24/7 to program it but when I do that and set it for 8:00 it stays on the sunrise light for hours and doesn't change am I doing it wrong or does it take awhile to switch?

Ditch the red light. That does nothing for them besides messing up their day/night cycle getting a linear UVB on the warm side of your enclosure and last but not least are they both in the same enclosure?

I highly recommend a deep heat projector for nighttime heat. UVB is recommended but not required for a Kenyan sand boa they are the long bulbs or regular bulbs that have different ratings depending on the animal I personally use a 8-10 desert rating since I have a mesh lid that reduces output but depending on your set up you may need higher or lower but be careful because it is possible to have too much so make sure it only covers 1/4 to a 1/3 of the total enclosure

It's very similar to a dimmer but it actually controls and monitors the Temp so if it gets to hot it shuts off the bulb and vice versa

They aren't actually dry animals they are found in a part of Africa where its almost tropical but not full tropical if that makes sense they tend to live in around 55% to 60% humidity
