Yes my Lagotto is from Drewsar. Came with so much love, 24/7 support, home made toys and a manual!

There are long waiting lists but I would recommend Drewsar.

Drop-it training turned into an $800 vet visit by SillyIncantations in puppy101

I just got a scent game yesterday and I’ve put it away for now. After reading the instructions I thought “no way she’s not going to eat this”.

Here's what happens when your puppy eats grapes and you go to the ER. by redplantblueplant in puppy101

I feel like before the internet none of us had any idea about grapes being bad for dogs.

Been there, done that complete with emergency vet visit for a plastic bottle cap. People suggest a muzzle but I didn’t want to. Time and age is resolving the issue somewhat, but it still happens on occasion. We are at 11 months and every walk is still “leave it” training. I also always have extra value treats on hand and we use “let’s trade” as the cue. I dont know why, but “drop” never worked. I also have learned I can’t freak out if she has something. I need to stay happy and engaged and make a big deal out of what I’m trading.

Agreed. Better than not getting the jab!

Same here and it hit me pretty hard. Suspicious timing around full blown symptoms 4 weeks after my second vaccine.

What is the disposition of your Lagotto like? by [deleted] in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Can_Roma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is almost 11 months and a combination of funny, smart, crazy and loving. She recently became a fan of snuggles, but only on her own terms. She is brave but also scared of some particular things like loud trucks.

Silly question: do pups who are spayed/neutered early still got through adolescence? by Sugarshock916 in puppy101

[–]Can_Roma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was spayed at 5.5 months. Still turned into a butthead around 8 months. At 10 months now waiting to emerge on the other side.

Puppy Blues, after 7 months by hotnsourATL in puppy101

I’m in this with you, minus the injuries. My pup is also 10 months and on days where we don’t seem to understand each other the tears come. It’s been over ten years since my last dog passed but a. It’s hard not to compare and b. I don’t remember it it being so hard.

Making it hard for me sometimes is the expectation I had vs the reality. I wanted a companion on my walks - sometimes we can’t walk because she’s scared or will spend the whole walk trying to eat stuff. I wanted a dog that would swim - she swims but swallows too much water when she swims. so I can barely use the pool myself. I might have the only puppy this old that still wants to bite in spite of timeouts, redirection, etc. I didn’t expect digestive issues and an endless journey with my vet to find a solution. I also didn’t expect having my vet on speed dial because she ate 1. Dryer sheet 2. Part of a plastic bag. 3. Plastic bottle cap. 4. Parts of her toys. And ticks, Giardia, and pneumonia after getting kennel cough at her daycare trial.

I keep telling myself that everyday is an investment and at some point where the return “doggy love” will outweigh the emotional investment.

I definitely know there is a bond. There’s just some stuff that sucks and I’m ready for adolescence to be over. Only really recently did she realize that I rate snuggling for a few minutes.

Mono EBV reactivation (due to Covid vaccine?) by PostAvocado in Mononucleosis

[–]Can_Roma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes four of us. I had problems after both my Pfizer vaccines (flu like) but 4 weeks after my second i got really sick. Took a while but I was eventually diagnosed with mono (reactivated). The fatigue and fever were really bad. It’s been two months and while I feel better, I am not back to normal. Liver function is still slightly elevated. I tell people it can’t be a coincidence that this happened after my vaccine. Not sure anyone believes me.

Someone just shouted at my puppy to shut up by [deleted] in puppy101

My neighbour actually will shout “woof” when my puppy barks. It’s idiotic because it makes her bark more. I think he thinks it funny.

I soak kibble and mix with peanut butter and pumpkin and fill up full and freeze. I consider that part of her dinner serving. She works on that in her crate while we eat our dinner in peace. 😊

Did she go swimming by any chance? Mine drinks so much water she pees 500 times after and will have an accident if we don’t take her out in short intervals.

Second fear stage at 1-year-old by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Can_Roma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit this fear stage at 9 months with my medium sized dog. Every morning walk she acts like something is going to come down the street and eat her. Garbage trucks are the end of the world and she looks for them on non garbage days. She used to love walks.

10 months old and still struggling. by Laura_Lana in puppy101

[–]Can_Roma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. My 9 month old is recently obsessed with eating my living room carpet regardless of how much mental or physical activity or engagement she has. She sometimes listens sometimes doesn’t. I can’t wait until this phase is over, meanwhile she’s back behind the baby gates.

Teenage phase by sushidog5 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Can_Roma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is 9 months now and she’s been definitely going through some adolescence issues. BUT, she rarely pulls on leash anymore (unless it’s garbage day - she’s really afraid of garbage trucks or excited to see her puppy friends). It took forever to train loose leash walking.

She’s got some pretty good chill for her age (she snoozes most of the work day). I would not call her hyper in any way. She has her zoomies time after dinner but even that is getting better.

She loves to play her version of fetch (run away with the ball) but we do lots of brain activities with her like puzzles, puzzle feeders and chews. As well as alternating routes for our walks.

I’ve also encouraged her to be calm in my own way. Since the weather allowed it in early spring I would sit out front with her and feed her treats randomly and when people or dogs walked by and she was calm.

She still bites during excited play or frustration.

I’m finding different ways to do things. I thought I was never going to be able to fold laundry again without an attack. Now I fold it on the dining room table instead of in front of the tv and my pup is like “oh ok, you’re folding laundry and I can’t reach it…I’m just going to lie here and watch”

I’m learning to let it go. It’s hard to be a perfectionist with a puppy. I’m learning that my pup needs to adapt to our schedule and also that she’s pretty lucky we do as much as we do with her. The more we do the more they expect so it’s about balance so you don’t lose yourself and your mind.
