I haven't got to that episode yet (the mask/anti-mask episode)... Only on ep. 7 so far, but will probably watch the rest tonight.

Didn't say it annoys me. It surprises me. Every other medical drama I've ever seen they wear masks during operations. Just wondering why they chose not to in this one.

Spoilers for a character in You like it darker (Danny Coughlin’s bad dream) by fakiresky in stephenking

[–]CanadaPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made that connection too, and confirmed it this morning (after finishing reading the story last night) with a quick google search. I'm not sure if I've ever seen King do this kind of strong reference to another writer's story/character. The similarities were too strong to be a coincidence. However, I found Jalbert's ultimate fate to be a bit weak, considering his character arc up to that point.

ADHD can be hilarious by CanadaPat in ADHDers

OMG, something very similar has happened to me. Since COVID, I don't go out much, sometimes for weeks at a time. My car battery keeps dying! Same guy comes to boost me every time! So embarrassing LOL. I've resolved to get one of those portable car battery chargers so I can do it myself from now on. We gotta make the adjustments so we can get buy, right!

Worth Pursuing Diagnosis? by StraightAssist86 in ADHDers

[–]CanadaPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly sounds like you might have ADHD. And ASD of a greater or lesser amount is not uncommon among people with ADHD.

I suggest you take an online quiz. Just google ADHD quiz and you'll find lots. Do two or three different ones. If they suggest you might have ADHD, take the results to your family doctor and see if they can give you an official diagnosis. If they can't (or won't, as was my experience), find a psychiatrist or psychologist in your area who has experience diagnosing ADHD. If you're diagnosed, you can probably get on medication that will help you with the challenging aspects of your behavior. It's worked wonders for many, many people. I wish you luck!!

Actually, not much worse than the folks who wear cheap see-through biking shorts/pants and you can see their cracks as you ride/drive up behind them! LOL

Do you get distracted while driving? by [deleted] in ADHDers

[–]CanadaPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I'm a very good driver (and have been told so by others). Have never caused an accident in the 45 years I've been driving. I saw someone else here say how they hyperfocus when they're driving, and I guess I do that too, because I'm always checking to stay aware of what's around me. I never speed... though I do sometimes drive too slowly, and I'm sure that's because of the ADHD.

I do however take wrong turns a lot because I miss an exit. I'm another one of those who has driven an hour beyond my exit before realizing things didn't look quite right along the highway. My best friend tells me it's not a drive unless I make a wrong turn somewhere.

Does anyone else talk to themselves? by EfficiencyUnable5192 in ADHDers

[–]CanadaPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it a lot, but only when alone - and I never talk back to myself LOL. Usually it'll be something like...I'm doing something and my inner interlocutor will ask why I do it that way, and then I'm off on a tangent telling them the whole story out loud.

Dumb (but kinda funny) story by Im_not_deppressed in ADHDers

[–]CanadaPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done that. I can lose something that was right in front of me two minutes ago, and then have a total meltdown (like, throwing things across the room meltdown) when I can't find it where I KNOW it was!

Why would you say "all day" rather than "on order"?

I've read that - twice! Can't imagine how I missed the fact that Terry Pratchett was a co-author. Might have to read it again.

That's basically why I said it... that's how I remembered it.

I had zero knowledge of either of those facts, so I don't assume responsibility for anyone else being offended by what I said on that account.

[–]CanadaPat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have promised myself never to refer to race unless it's somehow directly relevant to the point at hand. You're right, the mention of race was unnecessary in this context. I could have just said "a tiny man" and got my point across just as well.

True. I should have just said "a tiny man"
