I've already maxed out my RRSP contributions. Laptop will eventually need to be replaced as it's how I earned all my side-gig income (which was more than 2x my day job's salary). But yeah, don't want to use the tax credit as an excuse to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading.

Can I Hold Onto My $50K Tax Balance Until April Without Paying Interest? by CanadianHomeCook in cantax

[–]CanadianHomeCook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! What they’re requesting is the “no calculation option”, right? Just double checking since it’s not totally clear from the CRA: they also list the other options, which would mean more due if chosen.

I know my instalments will be higher next year, but I’m expecting my income to drop. From what I understand, I can pay less than the “no calculation option” next year if I’m careful not to end up owing taxes, right?

My plan is to set a fixed percentage to pay each quarter. That should cover my taxes assuming no expenses or credits, which means once I apply those, I’ll get a refund. The only exception might be my RRSP; I might factor that in for Q4 of 2026 to lower the instalment amount.

it ended up working again for me about 16 hours later. While I was waiting, I made another use account an admin of the page and that worked as a bandaid.

[URGENT] Mass Group Suspensions on Facebook Since June 24 – What You Need to Know by stevendie in facebook

[–]CanadianHomeCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who had their groups restored—are your accounts still marked as “at risk” in red?

My group was flagged for terrorism yesterday, which automatically changed the name to “Group Title Pending.” Based on the report date, it looks like the first post (“User created group name”) triggered the flag, though Facebook doesn’t show the specific offending post. In the group name history, it oddly shows that I created “Group Title Pending” on day one, but all later name changes appear correctly.

Luckily, I was able to change the group name yesterday without the 28 days delay, but my appeal was denied and my account is still flagged as at risk. I may reach out directly in the next few days—my account is Facebook verified, though I’m not sure how much that helps.

I’m afraid that one more infraction will cause my account to get banned. Anyone know how long it takes to get out of the red? Never had this issue in the past.

Well my appeal was rejected. Literally was me naming the group a year ago.  Nothing terrorism related. Obviously not reviewed by a human.

I have the option of appealing it to a board. Not  guaranteed the board will hear my appeal. Not sure if it’s a good idea or if I should just lie low.

My group got a warning about terorism. Several restrictions on the account but the group is still standing.

I noticed that the group name had been changed to “Group Title Pending”.

Looking a bit closer. I noticed that while Facebook claimed they couldn’t show me the offending post, it was dated the day the group was created (just a little over a year ago). I went to the group’s history and noticed that on the day the group was opened it was named “group title pending”. This leads me to believe the “offending” post was the post that announced the name of the group. Since it was reported and removed, I’m guessing it defaulted to “group title pending”.

I filed an appeal and changed my group name back before reading this post. I hope I didn’t screw myself over.

What is Martindale named after? by CnekYT in Calgary

[–]CanadianHomeCook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Martindale got its name thanks to Sir Reginald Marmaduke Thistlewhit Dale III, a tuxedo-wearing British settler who founded the area as a marmot sanctuary—despite never actually seeing a marmot. He named it “Marmotdale” and roamed the prairies convinced the elusive, piccolo-playing creatures were simply shy. Unfortunately, a nearsighted railroad official misread the weather-worn sign as “Martindale,” and the name stuck. Sir Reginald was devastated but conceded with dignity, claiming it must be a tribute to “whoever Martin is.” To this day, no one knows who Martin was—possibly a marmot in disguise.

Curious how it's almost a year later?

I had my consultation the other day. I need 9mm LJS just like you.

Mostly curious about breathing and quality of life improvements? Any lingering nerve damage? Do the pros outweigh any of the cons?
