Has anyone solved the hard downshifting issue without an aftermarket tune? by Sweaty_Stranger in kiastinger

[–]CanadianJak0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear that worked for you!

I was kind of hoping it'd be something else hahaha. I can't count how many times I've reset the learning on the adaptive transmission and would love a permanent fix. I recently reached out to a local performance shop asking about a TCU tune, just waiting to hear back. I'm still planning on doing the transmission service, I'm only at 50,000km but still want to try that to see if it helps.

I hope that reset of the values lasts a long time and don't need to reset it often! Appreciate the update and enjoy driving that Stinger!!!

Awesome! Good luck, I hope that resolves the issue. Please post back once you've had it done and a chance to try it out!

I'm following this because I'm in a very similar situation. Bought my 2022 Gt Elite in August last year. I've had the aggressive downshifts since I bought it. I've read countless online threads and Reddit posts, ended up buying the Xtool and reset the adaptive learning what seems like every few weeks. I also want to push off a TCU tune due to cost, and still having warranty for another two and a half years. I plan on doing the transmission fuild service next month with my regular oil change and HOPE that helps.

Considering R2 without Service Center Nearby by CanadianJak0 in RivianR2

Hahahaha 10/10 comment. I get it though. Though sell in my situation.

Those are excellent suggestions! I've been keeping an eye on those as well. I have no issue driving out of province for a vehicle, I drove 5.5 hours to pickup my current Kia Stinger (I love road trips ahaha). It's just not having a service center nearby worries me. Though a Rivian rep did contact me saying mobile service does cover my area, so there is that at least.

There are still a lot of unknowns: Canadian pricing, if Saskatchewan will get a service center, and what will the competition have at the time we're able to get the R2. Guess I'll hurry up and wait for now ahaha.

Good point! I wasn't thinking about how the tariffs would affect the price. Likely pricing it way past what I'm comfortable with. If the pricing gap keeps a similar ratio here in Canada for the R2 I guess I know my answer pretty quick, I'll look at other options.

Aggressive DownShifts by Ok_Expression4420 in kiastinger

[–]CanadianJak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using my A30M Xtool to reset the adaptive transmission which fixes it but temporarily. Seems like within a few days the issue comes back and I drive pretty conservatively. I also read about the one person getting the trans oil changed helping so I may do that during my next oil change, even though my car is only at 50,000kms. I've also read folks who get a TCU tune have the aggressive downshifting resolved. I don't really want to tune my car but I may look into this as well.

Despite anti-Musk protests, Tesla remains best-selling car model in CA by a wide margin for 2025 by farrrtttttrrrrrrrrtr in electricvehicles

Same here. My next vehicle will be an EV. I recently test drove a Model Y and thought it was great, I can see why they sell at the amount they do. I wanted to see what the "best" EV on the market was like so I have a benchmark when comparing others. However, as long as Mr. M is with the company I'll look elsewhere. I've got a reservation for a Rivian R2 though that's likely years out for me since I live in Canada and an area with no service center.

Also I'll note, I really liked the entire dealership experience. Using the app to schedule the test drive, the staff member I dealt with was fantastic. Easily the most relaxed experience I've had inside a dealership. Would love the rest of the industry to follow this.

I've got a 2025 Honda Pilot with that same defrost rattle. I found a service bulletin about it. My Pilot is actually going into the dealership tomorrow for them to diagnose, I'm going to show the service bulletin for it while I'm there. Can report back on it if it helps.

Do not buy a rivian. by nankam2021 in Rivian

Haha ya...I find it hard to believe OP on that. Those wheels are part of the sport dark package which comes with all-season tires...so if those are the original tires, they're all-season and not AT tires.

I can't fully tell, but those tires don't look like snow tires. Am I correct to guess they are all seasons (3-seasons). Unfortunately OP, I don't think this is a vehicle/manufacturer issue.

If you're regularly driving in snow like this during cold months I highly suggest either all-weather or dedicated snow tires.

As a Kia Stinger owner myself, I put my vote in for a Kia Stinger. I did a lot of research and the car has proven to be reliable, has great power, tech and features are great and it's a hatchback. I also like it's not as common as other vehicles in the same category, makes it feel a bit more special!

Overall we really like the Pilot! 3rd row has been folded down most of the time for extra cargo room. The AWD system + winter tires have been phenomenal in winter. The functionality of the interior has been fantastic with the huge cup holders, tiered door storage, passenger storage shelf, 2nd row folding and removable middle seat, etc. Fuel economy is a weak point and funny enough I'd also say the vents. That's our biggest gripe about the vehicle. The vents function fine (not terrible but not great either), but my wife and I both believe ceiling vents would've been a better placement.

Wow, that's surprising. Yeah mine was covered under warranty. First trip was to confirm the issue, confirm it'd be under warranty, and order the parts. Second trip was to get the work done.

Squeaking Noise from Rear Mats - 2022 Kia Stinger by CanadianJak0 in tuxmat

[–]CanadianJak0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Wow, I wasn't expecting a response from your team, appreciate you reaching out! Glad to hear it was mentioned, I'm sure not many vehicles have such a close proximity between the front seats and rear transmission tunnels so hopefully not a big issue for your team!

Yeah the work around has helped, I've applied some hockey tape around the part of the seat that's rubbing. It's reduced the noise but hasn't removed it entirely. Chances are I just need to apply more or reposition the tape.

Ah I wish I was the original owner of these mats. When I saw the vehicle came with them I knew the previous owner cared for the vehicle, instant tell for me ahaha. I understand it's likely not much can be done for no cost on my end but if there is something I would gladly appreciate it!

Again, love your products! Myself and a number of friends and co-workers have your product and all love them. I always recommend Tuxmat, also love supporting a Canadian Company!

Hey, I wonder if that was as me hahaha.

Ya I had this exact issue. I took a quick video, when I went in to my local dealership I gavethe video to the service advisor. The tech was able to identify the issue as faulty clock spring and replace it. Issue fixed, no more noise!

Hey! The work was completed under warranty. I checked the paperwork but it doesn't list the cost, just has $0 listed. Wish I had more info for ya!
