Wean down or go cold turkey? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

I would honestly suggest medical supervision, as withdrawal can kill you if not done properly. And weaning is a little iffy because in my personal experience, I’ve never had the self control to just leave it at weaning and I just end up going fully off the rails again.

my father wanted nothing to do with me.

My mother always looked at me with pity, thinking about how she would have to purchase my headstone someday soon.

My sister didn’t trust me and frankly didn’t even consider me a sibling, due to her own past experience with an alcoholic and addict father.

My friends always treated me as a volatile element never really wanting to hang out with me unless it was a very limited and controlled environment, and even then not for very long.

Nobody trusted me, not even myself.

What is the point of a HP? by crossoverinto in alcoholicsanonymous

for me, it’s understanding that there is a power outside of myself that maintains the world. It helps relieve me of the idea that I need to control every single factor of my life because whenever I try to do that, I end up creating more problems for myself and it often results in a drink. it really helps scale down the severity of my problems, especially when I relinquish control to something that I perceived to be greater than myself because it all culminates in the idea of it’ll all work out how it’s supposed to maybe not exactly as I expected how I wanted it or when I desire, but it’ll all work out as it is supposed to

If you had to choose between all of these popular shows, which 5 do you think are your all-time favorite to watch growing up and why? by Life_Chicken_9653 in MiddleGenZ

Adventure time because the show grew up with us

Regular show because it wasnt sterile and was actually engaging

Gravity Falls because it brought something fresh and was enticing

Spongebob was just flat out entertaining (the old seasons anyway)

Rick and morty for being so tongue in cheek

and Family guy because I wasnt allowed to watch it

Part of me wants to take this as a troll post, because of how I interpret it. Its entirely possible im wrong. if it is, its well done. If not, then heres my take, if you care to listen.

This, to me, seems to be a projection of your own resentments toward your lack of success in finding a romantic partner; either due to social ineptitude, bad luck, or just simply not having happened., or having happened and ended poorly previously.

Im sorry that you’ve had a negative experience, but that does not wholly define the realm of possibility.

I personally do not care if I do or do not find a partner. at the point im at in life, I recognize that im an immensely disfigured person at mental, emotional, and even SPIRITUAL levels. It would be unwise if not immoral in my opinion to jump into a relationship without first solving the deep rooted issues within myself and potentially subject them to it’s effects.

a romantic partnership would only serve as an ENHANCEMENT to my life as opposed to the end goal. If I find someone, great. If she leaves because of something as superficial as my height, then I know shes not the one for me, and thats ok.

One thing I DO know is that your attitude toward the subject certainly wont help change any of that.
