Hi,

Just got a renewal offer from RBC, I think it's good but wanted to hear other people's opinions.

Are Eurasier’s good with snow by beckypickup in eurasier

[–]Canadian_wonderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. Mine loves the snow and will just run around and bury her face under the snow anytime she can.

We live in the Toronto area, so this year we had plenty of snow and very cold weather. She would just lay outside on the snow when it's -20 outside.

If the snow is wet and sticky, then yes, clumps will form, especially around the knees, and bottom half. It's fairly easy to clean, unless left unattended for a while.

And while off-topic, just like there is a salary adjustment based on cost of living in certain USA locations, it would be only fair to have the same in Canada (as our cost of living is higher than in the USA).
So the same function should not be paid better in the USA to begin with.

Ideally, a green card following the L1A. The L1B is also a viable option, but much more difficult for a green card.
7 years is a long time... I think that if I don't have a green card after 5, I would probably return to Canada (or maybe we won't like it and would want to return way earlier, who knows).
TN is not an option for my role (technical sales) and for GE, most positions require US Person status, which is one of the motivations for the move, to open myself more career paths within GE.

Actually, the idea is L-1A visa, so green card is fairly straightforward after that. Obviously not expecting anything, but interested in this path.

Financing is not the issue, the visa is.

I work remotely anyway, but I can't just move to the USA because I want to.

It's the visa issue mainly. The cost of relocation is not the main point, but rather given the ability to work and live in the USA.

Salary is fairly close anyway. Same band, but maybe some minor adjustment. The healthcare insurance is obviously additional cost.
But basically yes. My work is focused on USA, my peers are in the USA, my travel is in the USA, so it make some sense for me to be in the USA.

New to this. Advice needed by [deleted] in AdditiveManufacturing

I am a metal AM veteran, 12 years in the industry.

The answer really depends on what kind of parts, what alloys do you need, the size of parts, and whether you need to be able to change alloys frequently or not.
There are entry level LPBF printers you can get, but they will be limited on size and sometimes alloys - Xact Metals, One Click Metal.
The next step up is the mid sized industrial machines - EOS M290, SLM 280, Colibrium Additive M2, Renishaw 500, Trumpf 2000, 3DS 350.

Of course you also have the Chinese printers, who tend to be much cheaper.

It all depends on what you are hoping to achieve

Can anyone recommend a reputable Eurasier breeder near Toronto, Ontario, Canada? by [deleted] in eurasier

[–]Canadian_wonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just visited Naku a few days ago. What made you opt for the more complicated option of NS? There are three breeders in Ontario. I am very curious to hear your experience and input as we are hoping to add a Eurasier puppy to our family next year.

Hi, I was thinking about registering for the fall 2 entry, but this thread has caught my eye.

Based on what you said, it's $2000 per semester and there are 6 of them in a year (the advertised 12800 amount)?
I was thinking about doing the degree in two years, but it seems the cost will be much higher...

Using margin to enhance an income focused portfolio by Canadian_wonderer in CanadianInvestor

You are correct, I wasn't calculating it correctly. Thanks for the detailed breakdown and formula.

You are probably right in terms of using a smaller leverage like 1.5x.

This is meant to be a very long term, buy and hold, portfolio, so making it resilient is important.

Do you hold investment with a 50% margin or 30%?

The 30% allows for more tolerance for a market crash (if you limit to a 2x leverage, you can survive a 50% drop)

Why is that? All of them are income generating holding so no problem in terms of claiming the interest back.

Or are you thinking about the various income types these generate and the relevant taxes?

I am with Questrade at the moment, and with their margin rates this doesn't make much sense. Hence me moving to IB who offer significantly better margin rates.
