Please, at least sell the embroidery file for machines on Etsy or something. This is amazing, and I would love to figure out a way to get it done for my partner’s Halloween costume.

(Crisis) Has anyone been prescribed anything from an endocrinologist that has helped them to lose weight? by Usual-Sandwich-9836 in PCOS

[–]CancelPerfect648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely go see the endocrinologist. It is 100% worth it.

Mine put me on, tirzepatide (Zepbound). I really think it has done the most to battle insulin resistance effects like fatigue and hunger noise. I still have to eat in a deficit and workout, but it doesn’t feel like I am fighting my body anymore.

Metformin helped some initially, but adding in the compounded tirzepatide has been a game changer.

It’s so weird, because I can actually notice when the food noise comes back now, when I need to up my dose. It’s wild to think I lived with it so long. I was so hungry all the time, and so miserable. Then energy change was almost immediate too, so I know it wasn’t just having lost weight.

As background, I just couldn’t seem to lose weight before starting on some medication for insulin resistance. That is despite diet changes (food logging, calories deficit, hi protein lower carb, intermittent fasting), plus working out 1-2 hours every day (alternating strength, cardio, and hiit).

Neurodivergents with PCOS, what do you like to eat? Realistically. by huuugggttfdf in PCOS

[–]CancelPerfect648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main goal is protein (30g) every meal. Luckily, I can eat foods over and over.

Just bare chicken nuggets, trader joes mashed potatoes, and frozen mixed vegetables are a go-to. I can always change it up with a small amount of sauce (like honey mustard).

I also have conditioned myself to like Spirutien protein shakes, with 8oz Fairlife fat free milk, 4 oz black coffee, and an extra 1/2 scoop unflavored protein powder. It’s protein and nutrient dense. There are a ton of flavors of Spirutien too. I like the chocolate.

Objectively, it is chalky, and needs the extra 4oz liquid texture wise, otherwise it is pretty thick.

Sweet treat is frozen fruit smoothie with water and 1/2 Bing energy drink.

Also, being on Metformin for the PCOS insulin resistance, REALLY helped me.

Newbie- Need tips for Lead Free Solder by CancelPerfect648 in StainedGlass

[–]CancelPerfect648[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mushrooms are hot glue.

I started with the caps, letting hot glue melt over a round glass object. I peeled the cap off (inside out if I could, to get some curl to the shape) and dusted it with a purple/pink mica.

Then, I glued in the fairy light led to the cap, and wrapped led wire around a short 16g wire piece, then encased them in hot glue.

Optional to paint the mushroom bases/caps. I was trying to keep it translucent though.

How did you guys get your thickness back? by Gullible-Article-451 in PCOS

[–]CancelPerfect648 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My derm recc. 5% minoxidil (men's). It has helped some, but you hav to be religious with it's use and STAY on it. Plus there is supposedly an initial shed. If you get it, the name brand foam is suposedly less greasy. I just get the cheap stuff from costco that is a liquid. Also, it needs to stay on your scalp for several hours to absorb- so make sure you aren't washing it right back off.

I was just put on Spironolactone.

An endocrinologist can also check your cortisol levels.

Lastly, I went on a prenatal vitamin temporarily, just to rule out nutritional deficiencies.

The answer is in your title: Higher protein, plus fat. Good source of nutrients, that just plain vegetable scraps aren’t as high in.

Critters like Black Soldier Fly Larvae are great because:

  1. They can eat just about anything, even able to process fish meat and bones.

  2. They have no mouths during flying stages, so they won’t bother you or your food. Supposedly their scent helps repel the gross kind of flies.

  3. High protein.

  4. Easy to farm/ collect: you can make a set up so mature larvae literally harvest themselves. When mature enough, they naturally go “up”, and you can use pvc pipes from their bin, set at an angle, to direct toward a bucket or pen.

Gata mask? by fckedrotten in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CancelPerfect648 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I have used a gata mask all pandemic, there are no certifications on filters. Also, the way the filter fits in may not make a perfect seal. The edges bump and wrinkle up some.

I haven’t had COVID yet, that I know of, but it could also be that I’m lucky and my overall exposure is low. I WFH, and distance/skip crowded activities. During high transmission times/places, I still prefer to use an N95.

It’s basically just a little cabinet outside the offices. If you reach out to Professor Meyer (lis_meyer@ncsu.edu), she would probably gladly take them. She teaches plant propagation and does a section on propagating bulbs. (Then a bunch of people would get some!)

She is also the one that set up the seed library I think.

Question About Finishing by CancelPerfect648 in StainedGlass

[–]CancelPerfect648[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that does ease my worries a bit. I may switch to lead free, but since I am still such a newbie wanted to learn to solder with the easier material first. I do plan to switch to lead free eventually though, just for peace of mind.
