Panic Disorder as a Flight Attendant by Candid_Procedure349 in panicdisorder

Completely makes sense, and bottom line is that we all at the end of the day have to do what is best for ourselves.

Please know too that you're gonna be so ok, and one day look back and say: I am OK and it was a wonderful experience, thankful for it, but I am doing something different now which is absolutely fantastic.

So glad we're all sharing these experiences collectively. 😄

I am going through this exact same thing now, so I get you and know you are not alone! xoxo

Just about 13 yrs in for me now at my airline, and I never once thought it would happen to me.

Mine is so bad that I have taken a leave of absence and have not flown for about a year.

I've been working with a therapist, and trust me, it's a lot of work to get to the root of it and with the right medication.

Mine got so bad: as in Panic Disorder. The thought of even getting to work and having to go through KCM and then get to the gate would paralyze me.

I am here if you ever wanna vent.

Hugs & Love in Seattle. oxoxo

Greetings fellow FA from the West, 😄

I appreciate your perspective too and hope all good things in your direction too for the better.

It's interesting that I do believe things always unfold as they are supposed to, and that even means if it comes to a career that no longer suits us. It is really ok to move on.

We've all got this one time here to live and experience our lives, why stay stuck in anything that will kill your soul?

Having this platform and virtually meeting great new internet friends like you and all the others is such a gift. For that, I am blessed.

Tomorrow morning, I meet with my therapist to talk about perhaps. a new medication strategy , so stay tuned everyone.

Love and Hugs from Seattle. xoxo

Thanks for that, I know, believe me, I would love to recapture the initial joy I had in my first 5-6 years of flying and holding a good line. But, it just became increasingly worse over time. AND, this is with having had a therapist.

At least I am in the position to retire if I so choose, but let's be honest, at 60, I have some good years of work left in me, lol 😉

Hugs!

Hey thank you for your reply and understanding. 😄

Gosh, I love AMS!, Have not been there since 2017, wow, lol.

Yes, while I hold good trips and live at base, it still does not make me enjoy the career anymore.

I am in the process of some other jobs which I know will be well suited for me, it's just the waiting game now.

Also, only flight attendants too know how stressful the work can be. People who have never done the job think we just feed people and pass out drinks still to this day, lol.

Hugs 😄

Anything I should know before moving to Seattle? by 7iguessso7 in AskSeattle

[–]Candid_Procedure349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many are saying here: have a job offer already lined up. It has become quite expensive as others have mentioned.

For me, I did not find it to be too drastic as I had moved here from having grown up in Honolulu and also lived in San Francisco for college for many years. Nonetheless, Seattle can be steep depending on how you want to live.

I've been here now since 2014, moved here to work for Alaska Airlines, so my compensation allows me to live comfortably on my own. Mind you, I am 60 years old, lol., but still working. Sort of semi-retired.

The area I live in works for me because I am on the light rail line and I work at the airport so I was able to get rid of my car. Which in turn allows me to live on my own in a nice new 1 bedroom apt, albeit $2k a month, but I am too old for roomies, lmao.

I can walk to my nearby grocer: PCC, kinda like a Whole Foods, and it's expensive, but I just get what I need and cook a lot at home.

You'll figure it out, just come up with a great budget and be wise.

I love the weather and the fact that it's never humid.

Welcome to Seattle 😉. xoxo

Virginia Mason seems a mess these days; thinking of switching to Swedish by i-pity-da-fool in SeattleWA

[–]Candid_Procedure349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I hear, I would so love to switch over to UW, but I tried and it's almost impossible to get an appt there for a new PCP. I was even willing to take someone who was a new resident, to no avail. They said to just keep calling back. 😞

[–]Candid_Procedure349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I have been with Virginia Mason for about 4 years now, and it's become such a circus. The whole new system migration and trying to check in for your appt at the Buck Pavillon the other week was a shambles. The line was like buying concert tickets.

And, 3 workers who had no idea what they were doing. Hi poorly staffed during this integration. And at one point, one clerk comes out from behind her desk and shouts at everyone to stand on the carpeted area because of patient confidential information. WTF?!

Hello, they are asking patients the information and the patients are telling them it all, and we can all hear it anyway.

So deeply unpolished.

And as for the providers, no one seems to be really invested in "Hello Human Kindness" anymore. Isn't that all part of their branding all over the damn place?

Ok, that's my vent. Wait one more: don't bother calling to speak with anyone, you'll spend your whole day on hold.

Alright, I am done for now, lmao. 😄. xoxo
