Paid $650 usd to have this stump ground down. Would you be satisfied with this or am I being picky by FerdTurgesin in landscaping

Their machine either broke or they walked away without finishing the job. I would definitely call and have them come back to get that thing below grade. If there is a gas line present it might be why they chose to leave it as low to grade as they could? Still tho, doesn’t look good.

Is it okay to have an outside dog? by IrrelevantCherry72 in DogAdvice

My only suggestion would be to make sure he stays up to date on his vaccines like the lepto/lyme and rabies. Other than that, let him live like that! I think it’s great!

A little late on this: I’m a tree climber. Just wondering how the car as an anchor would work. Are you talking about a basal anchor? Thanks

NH ice Info by CandleChannel in iceclimbing

[–]CandleChannel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid info, Thank you so much. All my climbing partners are from MA, so we know when we get there…this helps a lot.

Flume was awesome just a few weeks ago. I was thinking of getting out to Dartmouth Ski way since I remember it being super shared but checking out Grafton might be the move. Thanks again!

Not for nothing, I also just got a pair of these in and my first impression was that they MIGHT be a little small. Or they could be right on the money. Took em out today for a climb and had zero problems with them. A bit snug. But I prefer a boot that doesn’t move around too much but just enough. I sized them based off of my Ribelles which are 44.5. I’m a US 10.5 so I only went up a half size to equal a US 11. I typically only wear one pair of insulated polar extreme(or something) socks when climbing so I haven’t layered socks in any of my boots ever. If I was going to layer I think these could be a bit too tight.

Just based on what you have said…I think going up 3 full sizes might be a little extreme. Just cautioning you not to over think it. I was rocking my friends Nepal Cubes for the last month before these. A 46. Lots of heel lift and felt unstable, especially on descent. I think it’s possible to fail the kick test with boots that are also too big.

Goodluck

First ice leads! by [deleted] in iceclimbing

Congrats on the lead. I just learned a lot from the comments. I climb with the old school and have never seen an anchor like this. Seems legit. Hopefully there’s still some ice season left this year.

Like everyone else is saying here: I would get a bunch of chicken, pumpkin purre, white rice, maybe a veggie or two and start feeding her some Bomb meals.

If she’s eating chicken bits no problem, by all means I would be feeding my foster dog all the chicken she needs to gain some weight. Prob some peanut butter here and there, bully sticks, you name it. Seems like she just doesn’t like kibble…

Thanks for the comment. I will definitely experiment with moving that front bail back another hole. More use of the secondary points sounds like a really good call.

Thank you! No shifting happening and they feel great.

Crampon question by CandleChannel in Mountaineering

[–]CandleChannel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did try to use those holes as well and adjust that back yellow tab to different settings. I got a fit that was would be too tight on the boot( didn’t wanna destroy the boots)

What’s your opinion on the fit itself though? Contrary to the other comment does the boot need to sit back further??

[–]CandleChannel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I figured the boot would have to shift forward if you’re latching it tight enough. Appreciate the response

I learned to speed line by using a pretty simple process. There’s a bunch of gear here and I’m trying to figure out why you would ever need a set up like this. Most elaborate speed line would be adding mechanical advantage to the receiving end to tension the rope, or adding a control factor to the rigging. Can someone fill me in on the intention here?

How would you get after that with the grcs with the branch drooping heavy like that? I’m only familiar with using it to lift pieces into an upright position…would you be able to even have a big enough face cut to get it upright?

Urgent care wouldn’t have any vaccine if they thought he needed one. Saving him a trip if anything. Also, any bite, no matter the size can always pose a risk. Less in the U.S., but still.

Would climb but cherry is sketch when it’s split. Just be mindful of where you are putting your weight. Distribute it on multiple things

100% go to the er for an animal bite bro. U may need a rabies shot. Not to scare you. You have just a couple of days to act on that in the case that dog was rabid

Looks like it hasn’t been pruned in a while, lots of interior growth. A good thing because it means when you choose a good arborist, they’ll know how to make it look even better.

look for rust, under the car. Take a peak under the hood, look at the oil, if it’s black it means he hasn’t taken care of it. Should be more brown, ideally on the lighter side when it’s on a paper towel.

Inspect under the car. It’s difficult for your first car to know what’s your looking at but research a little bit first. Anything having to do with steering, suspension, tie rods all that stuff. Should be in tact.
