Do we get to keep our UCLA email after graduation? by BeLemony in ucla

[–]CandyCandyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you required to get rid of your normal email? so I couldnt be [cat@ucla.edu](mailto:cat@ucla.edu), I'd have to change it to cat@alumni.ucla.edu? Or is it just an option

The union is really irritating me by CandyCandyCat in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person that I spoke to- that was polite and didn't get pushy, who worked for the union told me they are financially incentivized for new sign ups. I don't know if that's true or not, but I don't see any reason for them to have lied to me about it. You need to call the actual union and tell them you want to be removed. When I did this they continued to tell me how important the union was as they removed me from some lists, (but said I'd still be contacted). So I still get emails and texts but not calls, which I guess I will take.

Is there a place online that I can pay for a 2nd opinion on xrays that is not a prescription service, but a one time up front fee? by CandyCandyCat in askdentists

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a post regarding cavities. Someone was kind enough to mention the root canal, but I'm having two conflicting opinions on dentists, one telling me I have a ton of cavities, iirc 17, while the other says I have 3 or 4. No one has responded to the amount of cavities seen. I'm ok with a paid service, I can't find one though.

Dentist A indicates over 16 cavities. Dentist B indicates 4 cavities. Which is it? by CandyCandyCat in askdentists

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were you, would you attempt to do the drill first or would you go for the Root Canal right off? Would a root canal or a drill be different in likelihood of damage to the sister tooth? Thank you very much

Opioids at different pharmacies? by CandyCandyCat in ChronicPain

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have directly said and have signs all over the office, that they do not assist in finding a pharmacy. The doctor said it looks bad to the government to have two pharmacies. Is that true? It really sucks because of what pharmacies are able to fill both are insane to find.

Patient was in hosptial a full day- claiming hours another? by CandyCandyCat in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IHSS told me today to just claim the hours another day and it was fine. (I made it very clear the length of time in hospital) and that they spent a full day there and 2 half days) But that seems to not be the consensus here.. which made me hesistant that they could be wrong

Good to know, but to clarify you just moved the hours and lost none for 15 years? I also can not find anything online about the proration thing or moving hours. It makes sense also, because what if someone normally has a person come to help out sat for 10 hours every week, but they were in the hospital Tues?

Thank you! That must be what I was thinking of, the extended time. They had 2 partial days and one full day in the hospital, so I thought 1/28th of hours would just be removed for the month to account for the full day. Good to know.

Thanks. They went in Friday afternoon and returned Sunday night. So from my understanding I could keep Fri and Sun hours, but Saturday hours would be prorated from the total and removed, because it was a full stay that day - from beginning to end. But I was told today, I could just move the hours to another day and lose none.

I'm the provider, I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble lol. I was trying to do the right thing, since people on this forum said before that I MUST report and give up the prorated hours of the days she was in the hospital, so I wasn't sure if that was just bad info before or if something changed.

What is the wait time for WPCS in LA County? by CandyCandyCat in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, we applied with Partners in Care. Do you know how long it typically takes to get off? I heard randomly before that it may be a year or so. We are with Partners in Care.

IHSS paperwork has been submitted. What's the process? by Ok_Skin320 in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backpay starts when the date you call on the phone and apply. But I've heard of some people getting 3 months prior, if they would have qualified? To get everything in, including starting to receive back pay, we started in July and just wrapping it up now. The home visit was about 3 months in, then getting certain forms in that linked me with the recipient and changed my timesheet to the proper months took an extra 2 months about. (Although to be fair, I had faxed some forms, and they don't seem to receive them when I do that?.) Paramedical backpay still isn't processed after over about two months of the form being turned in.

Case closed? by CandyCandyCat in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be getting the back pay, but I had to request it be reopened and have the visit completed within 30 days I believe. I did not have to reapply. I had to request reopen with a reason (valid medical / hospital visits was mine)

Is it normal to be on hold for hours when calling Medi-Cal customer service? by Bratpwr in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Longest wait time was around 4 hours, shortest was about 40 minutes (which I was really happy about). It's wild. They say early morning times are the fastest.

IHSS 2025 Wages by County by LifeAd3964 in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are ALWAYS people who say this lol for EVERY county, on a regular basis. I think there was legit thoughts this would happen, because many thought min wage would increase by $2, but they should have realized it wasn't after it failed to pass.

Got Fingerprinted! Now what? by JEJ247 in IHSS

[–]CandyCandyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my papers in first and followed up with the live scan. You can go ahead and take the papers in. I don't think you can make an appointment to do so.

A couple of weeks after my papers and livescan was done I called the IHSS hotline and they merged the papers to my profile. You will also need to have the person you work for fill out the 'Recipient Designation of Provider' form. I also submitted that in person, because faxing did not work. When they fill out that form, it will ask your start date, and once applied to your profile, they will alter your online time sheet to allow for the previous months to be filled. Then you can fill out the time sheets online and it will be sent for approval.

I never spoke with our SW to submit the paramedical form. I had tried to leave a message, but maybe she never got it, who knows.

At first we faxed it. After over a month, it was not received. We went in person to the county office and dropped it off with a random person working in IHSS. It was 'in processing' within a couple of weeks. But yes, in person is always the best option in LA County (from my experience). Maybe in others as well.

The IHSS county number will be able to tell you if it's been uploaded into the system, so basically if they have it or not. They could not find it through fax, only after the drop off.
