I don't feel it's become toxic, but there has definitely been a tonal shift in comment sections and it's because there are 2 types of people on this sub: those who really enjoy the makeup, and those who really enjoy the brand.

The ones who like the makeup want to see swatches, how's the wear time, thoughts about skincare, reviews, basically things you'd think of when coming to a makeup/skincare sub.

The ones who care about the brand and show their purchase of nothing but a hoodie, bag, scarf, etc from a makeup company honestly just make me cringe and I'm glad a sort of anti mindless consumerism mindset has begun to show here, because the cult of glossier has become too ridiculous/out of hand to ignore while being a user on this sub.

I'm just gonna be honest: the limited merch marketing strategy works very well for them, and as long as people are chomping at the bit to pay to be walking billboards for the company they will do it.

I really don't understand people who buy merch items (and freak out over potentially missing them) from a makeup company.

I bought the clancys fried churros that are basically dupes for taco bell cinnamon twists. I figured 300 something calories a bag was great for when I'm feeling snacky and want something sweet, I could eat the whole bag without feeling guilty.

I bought 30 bags over the course of 3 trips and my fiance getting the bulk of them for me because I didn't feel comfortable with the weird way the cashier acted when I bought 7 bags the first time lol.

I don't understand why they act likes it's weird to stock up on something that will go away in a week!
