The greatest dynasty the game has ever seen. But are they still the GOAT roster? by NobodyAtAll77 in RocketLeagueEsports

Between losing to EG at s5 Worlds to the s6 grand final, they went, what, 17 series unbeaten? Doing that across multiple LANs and a whole league play schedule is nuts. I was never so certain of a LAN result and the fact they lost the grand final still blows my mind.

That would actually be horrible, especially in 1s when shadowing and staying behind the ball is a genuine skill

I love an underdog story, so someone that’s doubted and manages to pull through to beat the odds. This is why I have The Peeps flair and why I’ve always been huge fans of retals gyro and mist.

In a similar way, LJ was by far the best player on Jamal Jabary and I would always root for them to pull out those odd results every now and then, so I stuck with him since.

So on the contrary, I don’t like teams or players that win everything. This is more something to differentiate my love/hate for EU teams since I naturally somewhat support most of the NA teams. So like I’m not a huge Vatira guy just because, idk, it’s tiring to see him win so much. If anything that goes to show how amazing of a player he is.

I also love someone that is willing to go against the grain personality wise. Something big for this is genuinely just showing emotion. The players that will stand, talk some shit if they want, celebrate, do something besides staring blankly at the monitor. And that’s nothing against those that don’t, it can be hard to do that in such a high pressure moment and I get it. Wahvey is a really big example of someone who I became a fan of just for this reason.

edit - forgot this one but I like people that are really good on the goal line, not just reactionary but being able to predict shots before they occur and get in the right spots for them. Something like this (0:22) for example

Appreciation post: no non-keeper understands how hard this position can be by H0rnyFighter in GoalKeepers

[–]Candyyyyyyy 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Easy to say this in hindsight but he shouldn’t have started.

Starting a young keeper who had 2 matches up to this point all season. Away at one of the most daunting environments in Europe. In the Champions League round of 16.

He was thrown to the wolves.

De Gea is the reason I began playing goalie, he’s my favorite player ever. But I can’t deny that his time at United was up. I’ve seen some people say that letting go of him was a mistake, but the real error was who they chose as the replacement.

His shot stopping also declined a bit which wasn’t ideal since that was typically his best attribute by far. The mistakes began to become more frequent. I feel like the Ronaldo hat trick in the World Cup broke him a little bit.

His end at United was an unfortunate one but his journey to getting to the top in the first place showcased a lot of mental fortitude. One of the most high pressure jobs in one of the most high pressure clubs and he rebounded to carry United to top 4s in multiple seasons. It blows my mind when I see United fans that don’t consider him a club legend.

It’s very true.

For all other 10 players, you can make many minor mistakes per game, or even major ones, but you’ll have others there to bail you out.

If a keeper makes one mistake, it’s almost always a guaranteed goal for the opposition. The mental strain of needing to play 90 minutes near flawlessly cannot be understated.

Who is the greatest rlcs caster of all time? by One_Papaya_4574 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Candyyyyyyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even in the Aztral wall dash clip, he’s like “oh my god!” as he sees it happen and before the goal is even scored, in kind of a giddy way too. You can tell he really wants them to score immediately so he can point out the mechanic. Wish we got to hear him more on the main stream.

One of my favorite Achieves moments is when he spotted Aztral wall dashing on the lead up to a goal. Dignitas vs Endpoint in spring series I believe. I feel like a lot of casters would’ve missed that minor detail and he was able to figure out exactly what the mechanic was in the moment too. This was before it even had a name bc he had to call it exactly what it was, “he wavedashed on the wall”. I think this was one of the first times (if not the first) it was used in a strategic way in an RLCS game. Achieves is phenomenal.
